Dear Friends in Christ:
Since you heard from us last, there is a new church r.o report, in a little frontier
town in Goias, halfway to Brasilia on the new highway Jim Morelard, Dick Kohison. s:at I
held a tent meeting at the end of March, at which time the new church was begU3i,
V.'e took a large tent and a generator for electr3.c lights to the tovn of Kova Olinda,
for the meeting. There were over 100 nightly, on the average, in attendance. The electric
lights were a great attraction. Many people were enlightened by the g03;jj, tco. Scjvcral
people want to become Christians as a result. Jim Koreland and family have moved neai-
there since the meeting, to give assistance to those people.
The reception we got in Nova Olinda was very friendly. The Catholic people scheduled
a novena when we arrived, to compete with the gospel preaching, but it was nov successful.
One night cnly three people attended it. In one home where we v?sited, the ptiople to-ld us
it was the first time they had heard the Bible read. They themselves didn' t know iiow to read.
The churches we work with in Icoaraci ire growing, especially the one that was so veak
about a year ago. Just that recently there were only two men in the services, brf: now there
are ten or twelve, A neighbor of ours has been converted from a life of drinJd.ng and making
misery and sorrow for his family. This is the second conversion of this type in that olAurch
in less than a year.
For a church downtown in Belem, five families working together here are hujdng a large
lot in the center of the city. Payments are now $27500 per nionth. Tkej'" were S!52'^,O0, but
a rise in the money exchange helped us. We are always short of money at this time of year,
and are. short the amount we need June 1. Would you pay one of these payments, or part of
one, for a place for a church in Belem?
Now included in our Slides are pictures of the Amazon Valley's beautiful .flowers. Send

Joanne likes dolls, swings, airplanes, and the moon. She calls them all by their names,
some in Portuguese and others in English. She calls us Mommy and Daddy, but when she falls,
she says "caiu". When she shouts "beesh", we know she's found a bug. We're without a car
this month (it is being used by the Jim Morelands in the new location), so Joaiane Tidoa i.u
a Grapette case behind me on the bicycle, with a seat belt of course!
Wouldn't you like to visit Brazil, visit the missionaries, and have a vacation ell at
once? Come see us this year instead of going to Europe, You'll be surprised how much good
it will do you, and you'd never guess how much good it will do us. Write to us about it.
Many of you have been helping us for a long time to stay here and work hero. We plan
to continue as long as the Lord permits, and are thankful to Him for guidance, and to you
