SEPTEMBER 2014 NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents, Students and Teachers

Welcome! I am so excited to have you all back at our studio! I have missed you! And
everyone that is new to the studio, I am so glad you have joined us! I hope you had a great
summer and I am excited for our awesome teaching staff, and the upcoming year! Below are just a few things I want to
remind you as our new Session starts:

Studio Focus and Goals: This year we are going to have a Monthly Focus and Goal. I really want to focus on the
flexibility and strength of our students this year, and in order to attain great flexibility, students need to be stretching at
home. So, each month we will be teaching stretches and exercises for the students to do at home and focus on one part of
their body.

The Stretch and Strengthen focus for September is KNEES AND LEGS. Ask your child about the different stretches they
can do at home to help get flexible and strong!

We are also focusing on being Mentally Strong. This months mental focus is DISCIPLINE. We will be going over the
dress code, how important it is to be at every class, how important it is to be on time, to go to the bathroom before classes,
bring a water bottle, not talk in class and listen to the teacher, and how important it is to have a good attitude and come to
class ready to work hard and try their best! Help us remind them of this at home!

Studio Director and Remind Me- Please understand that MOST of the communication from this point on will
be emailed or texted to you. Please check your Studio Director account and make sure your email information is correct so
you receive all correspondence. If you dont have computer access, let me know and I will get you a hard copy of any
correspondence. Also, sign up for text reminders! Text @timps to (540) 689-0380 to sign up for text reminders.
Watch for our monthly Newsletter that will be emailed sometime the first week of each new month and will also be posted
to our website. Check our website often! It is
timpdance.com.

Follow us on Facebook- We have a Facebook page that will have reminders and information posted to us. Follow
it and Like us! Timp School of Dance!

Attached Calendar- I have attached a calendar of all the days this year that the studio will be closed or classes will
be different than usual. Please know that tuition is based on the total of classes in the session divided into the number of
months. Some months might have more classes than others, but the tuition will be the same. I made sure that the classes
get 3-5 classes per month and tuition is based off of that.

Studio Rules- To keep our studio in top condition, I am asking students to please not bring in food and drink. We
have a drinking fountain in the front hall. Students are welcome to bring a water bottle and fill it up for class. Also, I know
that students that are at the studio for several hours get hungry. Please make sure they bring a small snack that is not
messy. Popcorn and crackers can make a huge mess! Please just talk to your children about helping to keep the studio
clean.

Payment- I would LOVE if everyone would be on auto pay. Statements will be emailed on the 1
st
of the month and
payments will be drawn on the 3
rd
of each month. Remember if you are not on auto pay, there will be a $10 fee
charged to your account monthly and payment is due by the 15
th
of the month, or late fees will be charged. If you are not
on auto pay, please drop off any payments in the form of check or cash to me in the office. You can sign up for auto pay
online in your Studio Director Account or you can bring in a Master Card or Visa to me at the Studio.

Correct Levels- For the first few months of dance, please make sure you talk with your child about how they are
feeling in their classes. We want to make sure that each child is in the correct level. If your child seems bored or frustrated,
please let me know and we will see what we can do about getting them in a different level. It is hard for kids to enjoy dance
and learn what they need to learn when they are not in the correct level. The teachers and I will be watching this, also.

NEW Dress Code- Please have your child at dance on time and in the correct dance attire for their classes. We have
a NEW dress code this year, so make sure you check it. It is posted on line at timpdance.com, on our Facebook page, on
the front wall of the studio, and there is a copy attached with this newsletter. If you have questions on what they need to
wear, please give me a call. Also, please remember to have them go to the bathroom before class starts. It is hard when
children interrupt class. Also, please make sure to pick your child up on time. Teachers need to start their next class and
they cant when students are still without rides. If an emergency happens and you need to be late, please call me and let
me know so we dont have worried little kids!

Referrals- If you know of anyone that is interested in signing up for classes, have them call me and tell me you referred
them. I will take $15 off of your account for the referral!

Shoe Swap- I will have a table set up in the front of the studio through the month of September. If you have old dance
shoes (tan jazz shoes, foot undees or pink ballet shoes) that dont fit you anymore that you would like to bring in for
someone else to have, you can bring them in and put them on the table. If you see a pair of shoes on the table that will fit
your child and they need some new shoes, you are welcome to take them. This is an inexpensive way to help everyone out.

Shoe Order- If you need shoes and would like to order some from me, I will be placing an order on Friday, September
12. I can get pink ballet shoes for $15, Foot Undees for $18 and Tan Jazz Shoes for $25. For Ballet shoes, you can choose
leather in childrens or adult sizes or canvas in adult sizes. In childrens sizes, order 2 sizes larger than their street shoe
size. In adult, in leather order their street shoe size and in canvas, order 1 size larger than their street shoe. For Jazz Shoes,
order 2-3 sizes larger than their street shoe size. For Foot Undees, order 1 size larger than their street shoe size. They come
in Child M (11-12), L(13-1), XL(2-3) and Adult P(4-5), S(6-7), M(8-9), L(10-11), XL(12-13) and XXL(14-15). These do tend
to run small to me. I usually order them a few sizes larger than street shoe size. If you are interested in ordering, let me
know your type of shoe and the size you want to order before September 12. I will charge your account.

Company Parent Meetings- We will be having Parent meetings for parents with students on companies. Elevate
Company will be on Tuesday Sept. 9
th
at 6:30pm at the studio. Fusion Company is Wednesday Sept. 10
th
at 6:00pm at the
studio. And Impact Company is Thursday Sept. 11
th
at 6:00pm at the studio. If you have a student on one of these
companies, please come to this meeting! It is important. We will be going over a lot of information and I will be answering
questions.

Company Pictures- We are going to do Company Pictures this year! Put THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
th
at
5:00 on your calendar! We are going to meet the barn across from Manila Elementary (1800 N 600 W PG). Pictures are
best dressed, no light denim, and no logo shirts. Please wear at least two of the three of your companys assigned colors.
Have fun with it and dress it up! Wear scarves, leggings, jewelry, headbands, etc. Patterns and layering with jackets are
fun. Please try to be there! I want the whole Company. We are hanging these in the front of the studio. Impact Company
Colors: Black, White and Hot Pink. Fusion Colors: Black, White and Teal. Elevate Colors: Black, White and Purple.

2014-2015 Performances- I want let you know about our upcoming performances so you can get them on your
calendar. Our winter performance will be a normal dance recital. I will keep costumes and props at a minimum and there
wont be tickets sold. Our spring performance will be our big show and will be our main performance. We will have
costumes, props, scenery, pictures, and DVDs made. PLEASE PUT THESE DATES ON YOUR CALENDARS NOW!

WINTER RECITAL- Our Winter Recital will be Shop til You Drop. This will be on January 19
th
at 7:00
at the Covey Center in Provo. To help with costs, we are going to have this be just a simple dance recital. Costumes will be
kept minimal. There will be a $30 costume fee per class charged in October. These will be costumes that they can use after
the show in their classes. There will be a performance fee of $25 per student or $60 per family, whichever is less, charged
with December tuition, but no tickets will be sold for this recital, so anyone you want to come can come. I feel it is
important for the students to be able to perform on stage and for the parents to see how their child is progressing, but this
will be a simple show. We will not have pictures for this show, and there will not be a professional DVD made.

SPRING SHOW- The Spring Show will be Under the Sea. This will be on June 16 at the Covey Center in
Provo. There will be only one show this year at 7:00pm. The show will have a performance fee of $20 per student due with
May tuition and tickets will be sold for $7. Pictures will be the first week of June. I didnt love our pictures last year, so we
are trying something new this year. I am confident they will be great! Watch newsletters for more information on exact
days and times. Costume fees will be $50 per class. They will be due with February tuition. A professional DVD will be
made of this performance and it will be available for you to purchase. You will receive emails reminding you of all of this
throughout the year.

Costume Fees Due- Costume fees of $30 are due with October tuition. I know this seems early, but costumes take a
lot of time to get ordered and get here. Make sure you look at your statement on October 1
st
and check that it is correct.

Snow White DVDs and pictures- Our Snow White DVDs from our Spring show should be in this week! I
apologize about the delay in getting them. I will email you all as soon as I get them. I do still have a lot of pictures that
havent been picked up yet. Come in and get them!

Star Student of the Month: We are going to Spotlight a Star Student each month! This student will receive a $10
credit to use towards tuition, ordering shoes, costume fees or performance fees! This months student of the month is

KAILEE HYMAS!!!

Kailee is a member of our Impact Company. She has danced with Timp School of Dance since she was a little girl. She has
danced many parts in productions, including the Dancing Doll in the Nutcracker, the Toy Soldier in the Nutcracker,
Dorothy in Wizard of Oz, and The Evil Queen in Snow White. Come see her picture and spotlight on the front counter in
the studio! Great job, Kailee! Youre a hard worker and it pays off! We love you!

Thank you all so much for your support! This is going to be a great year! Please feel free to call or email with any
questions, concerns or suggestions that you have about your children.

Sincerely,

Heidi Panter
