Instrument
The questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first part deal on the student
related factors, which is composed of the respondents, sex, parents educational
attainment
The second part of the questionnaire was subdivided into three subsection



Treatment of the Data

The data gathered were classified into male and female, by age, by
educational attainment of the parents, by income status and by academic rating.
These data were tallied, recorded and analyzed, then treated by the following
computation: frequency distribution, percentage and mean average of which are:



Conclusion

It revealed that the parents who were both gainfully employed and the father who
were the sole earners for the family economically better off than those whose
mother or brother/ sister were the only earners for the family.


Educational Attainment of the Parents. Refers to the level of education that
both parents have reached or have gone through.


Socio-economic Status. The position that an individual or family occupies with
reference to the prevailing average standards of cultural possessions, effective
income, material possessions and participation in group activities of his
community.

This increasing demand for the use of the language has reached all parts of
the world, including the Philippines. In fact, the President of the Republic Fidel V.
Ramos made an apt remark on this when he said that English is definitely an
advantage in the international market.
