We will be reviewing all of our quarter one words next week.

This week you received an

updated assessment. A lot of our students have already mastered all 25 words! If your
child received a two dont worry! We still have a couple weeks to get them mastered!
Keep practice reading and spelling these words at home! Remember all students are
expected to be able to read and spell these words by the end of the quarter (10/13).
BOOK FAIR!! We will visit the book fair on Tuesday. You can send money with your child
on this day, or any day after. After visiting the book fair, students will make out a
wish list with the top five items they would like to purchase. You can then review the
list with your child and decide if you would like to send money with him or her later in
the week! Also, Family Night for book fair is on Tuesday from 6-8. Feel free to come
that night, as well!
We will be starting guided reading groups during The Daily 5! Students will begin meet-
ing with me each day to read a book that is at his or her individual reading level. Books
will be sent home throughout the week for your child to read to you. Please make sure
you have your child read this the night it is sent home and return it the next day!

Our theme next week is apples! Weve got lots of fun activities planned including read-
ing and writing about apples, describing apples, graphing about apples, and eating lots of
apple treats! Our vocabulary will also focus on apple terms. Dont forget to send an
apple to school with your child Tuesday. If you would like to send other apple treats,
please contact me so I can let you know what we need!
During our Word Work time, we will begin learning about different digraphs. This week
we will focus on sh.
