STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

Last week, one of our administrative staff
attended BCA training in St. Cloud. The
training covered updates on BCA requirements
and other operational programs that support our
daily work.

Two weeks ago, one of our administrative staff
and one of our detectives attended a training
course related to intelligence analysis. This
training will get us going on maintaining a
criminal intelligence system and provides
guidance to remaining compliant with state and
federal requirements for this type of data. Over
time, the use of intelligence will be more deeply
integrated into our daily patrol and investigative
functions. We are currently developing a daily
bulletin system which is accessed by our staff
in a shared electronic folder and displayed in a
user friendly powerpoint format. This system
will be used during officer briefings and will
allow for a consistent and detailed flow of
information related to notable calls for service,
wanted persons, blight and problem property
tracking, and many more functions.

This past week, three of our officers attended a
firearms training course in Hibbing. This
training keeps them up to date on procedures
and techniques.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:

On September 20, 2014, our officers participated
in Mugs and Hugs at Gordys in association
with WKLK. This event gave us the opportunity
to provide DNA collection kits to families. We
also helped serve rootbeer floats.

This week, staff participated in an exhibition
basketball game at the Cloquet Middle School.
The fundraising event Harlem Ambassadors vs.
The Cloquet Crackerjacks was sponsored by
the Kiwanis Club of Cloquet and raised funds
for The Salvation Army.

On Sunday, September 21
st
, our good
friends at Zion Lutheran Church came to
the police department and helped us out
with some much needed cleanup and
painting. The landscaped area near the
front entry was weeded and cleaned up.
The overhead doors and metal railing on
the building exterior were repainted with a
new blue color making the building look
great!

occurred in the 900 block of Cloquet Avenue. The victim, a
42 year old female, had been assaulted by a male and female
near that location and was transported to a local hospital for
treatment. The victim had injuries that warranted felony
assault charges. A 34 year old male was arrested a short
time later and was lodged at the Carlton County Jail on 3
rd

degree and 4
th
degree assault charges. The female suspect
was not located during the initial investigation but an arrest
