UNIT RATIONALE
This unit is an elective unit in the Entertainment Management department. It is open to all students
from all departments.
UNIT DESCRIPTION
The design of visual media tools (such as photo and video content, marketing collateral), and their
manipulation and dissemination through digital and traditional media, is a fundamental step in the
creation of an artistic or entertainment-based brand. These tools are prevalent in today's
entertainment industry and play a significant role in the success of an artist, tour, event or other
entertainment entity. They include music videos and other video content, photos, album covers,
tour posters etc.
The Visual Media and Design Skills unit aims to teach students how to identify, conceptualise,
commission and curate these numerous multi-media visual and design tools. The unit will discuss
topics such as design, composition and aesthetics, photo & video shoots and editing, style/image
management, design and aesthetics of promotional collateral.
