The History Of Chemical Engineering

John Dalton (1776 1844), an England teacher and chemist, has given a
lot of contribution to the world of science. Dalton is famous with the title of the
father of modern atom theory. He thinks, All of the things in this world is made
of atoms and the purity of an element is connected with the presence of the
similar atom. In 1805, Dalton published a paper which contents a theory of the
elements weight, which becomes a balancing basis in Chemical Engineering
In 1882, University College London (UCL) Opened a study course of
Chemical Technology. Then in 1883 Osbourne Reynolds (1842 1912) an Irish
scientist, described an aerodynamics theory with his experiment, this theory
helped the world to know the concept of a flow, mass transportation and heat.
A diploma study program in Chemical Engineering started to be known
in 1885 by Henry E. Armstrong (1848 1937), an England chemist in the Central
College (now Imperial College) London. Four years bachelor program in
Chemical Engineering was first introduced in 1885 by an American academic
named Lewis M. Noeron in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology or widely
known as the MIT
Chemical Engineering continued to grow since 1885, and in 1889, Rose
Polytechnic Institute presented a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering the
first time in the world to their student. Then, in 1891, MIT, which is a famous
and very prestigious engineering institute until now, also graduated a bachelor in
Chemical Engineering named William Page Bryant other 6 bachelors, this
phenomenon showed that Chemical Engineering has been widely known in the
world
In 1892 University of Pennsylvania also opened a bachelor program in
Chemical Engineering. University of Pennsylvania is one of the oldest university
in America. By this, it is strongly assumed tha the theory of Chemical
Engineering has been known in the American region and its surrounding

In 1901, George E. davis (18501906), an Imperial College London
bachelor, Published The Handbook of Chemical Engineering. a book that
Rioneli Ghaudenson
1306413712
contained various study field that supports the learning of Chemical Engineering.
This book has given a significant effect on the world understanding of Chemical
Engineering
In 1905, University of Wincostin gave the first Ph.D degree in Chemical
Enginering to a student named Oliver Patterson Watts. Watts keeps on
contributing to the world of Chemical Engineering after he graduated, he
becomes a professor and teach at University of Wincostin.
In 1908, AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers), was
founded. AIChE is the first institute in the world that focused on the development
of the Chemical Engineering major, until now AIChE has got 45.000 members
from all over the world
Then, IChemE, UK Institution of Chemical Engineers, found in the 1922.
This institution is also focused on the development of the Chemical Engineering
in the world like AIChE, helping chemical engineers from all over the world.
This institution greatly helped the Chemical Engineers to apply their knowledge
in a concrete form
After some years without any women students, in 1942, Hilda Derrick,
The firs women member of IChemE joined the membership of IChemE. This
showed that the one who has the right to learn Chemical Engineering is not only
for men, but also for women. Everybody can learn Chemical Engineering
Chemical Engineering now is a different Chemical Engineering from back
then, Chemical Engineering has been widely known as a very applicable major
that is needed in every corner of the world. Chemical Engineering has become a
major part of the worlds development, It is applied in many industry and
everything that has a reaction in it. Chemical Engineers in all over the world has
contributed many times to handle the worlds problem, with Chemical
Engineering, we can make this world to be a better place to live on
