Materials

The materials used must be based on the principle of concrete (the main
materials is NOT NECESSARILY Portland Cement)
All reinforcement must be non-metallic mesh (carbon and fiberglass mesh can
be used but MAT TYPE CANNOT BE USED).
There is no restriction on the choice of aggregates.
NO other materials such as duct tape, string, plastic etc. can be used.
Molds such as old plastic frisbee, pie pan or wooden forms can be used to form
shape.
Foam concrete WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Guidelines
The frisbee must be circular, solid and without having any holes.
The outer diameter of the frisbee must be 1210mm in diameter while the
internal diameter must be minimum: 810mm and maximum 1110mm .
The thickness of the Frisbee may be varied. It depends on the teams creativity.
NOT MORE THAN 15% of the surface area of the Frisbee may be covered by
anything other than concrete. This includes, but not limited to, external
reinforcement, paint, or stains.
External reinforcement must not create a shell around the Frisbee.

Finishing
Every team shall prominently display the name of their team on the surface of the
concrete Frisbee. For aesthetic purposes, lettering and enhancement of the finishing,
appropriate stains or paints may be applied to the concrete Frisbee:
Use integrally colored concrete and/ or
Apply stains, sealers (penetrating or surface coating), pigments and/or paints to
the area of the concrete Frisbee
Still need to be remembered that the area covered on the surface of the concrete
Frisbee due to finishing is not more that 15%

Slide Presentation
For the presentation assessment, each team needs to produce slides that should include
but not limited to the following information:
Name of the team members and advisor
Logo of their university
Design of the concrete Frisbee, reinforcement, and mold (with the dimensions)
Design of the Frisbee = the dimensions, thickness and height of the
Frisbee.
Reinforcement = the materials that you choose to be the reinforcement,
justifications on the choice of materials, the methods on placing the
reinforcement and sample of calculations (if any).
The mold = the mold together with the dimensions.

Mixture proportions of the materials
The concrete mix design of the concrete in terms of the proportion that
your team uses. The percentage of materials used including the
percentage of Portland Cement in the Frisbee.

The participants should be able to answer all questions from the judges to obtain their
scores accordingly.
Concrete Frisbee test categories
Design & aesthetic
Score will be given based on the uniformity, smooth surface texture design, and
the material used for the concrete Frisbee. The surface of the concrete Frisbee
should not have any sharp edges or triangular cuts. The materials used must
focus on the Green concept.
Weight
Prior to the competition, the Frisbee brought by each team will be weighed.
Lightest Frisbee will be the best scorer for this category.
Distance test
There will be boundaries marked on an area that will be shown before the
competition begins. Each team is allowed to throw the Frisbee for three (3) times,
either by the same or different person from their team. The throwers leg must not
cross the base line. The better of the three throws will be counted. Distance will
be measured from the base line to where the concrete Frisbee first contact with
the ground. If it landed outside of the boundary and/or the throwers leg crosses
the baseline, the throw will be disqualified. The greatest distance receives the
highest points for this category.
Accuracy test
There will be a fixed target 50 feet away from the base line. Each team is allowed
to throw the concrete Frisbee three (3) times, either by the same or different
person in their team. The better of the three throws will be counted. Accuracy
measurement will be from the target to the nearest edge of the concrete Frisbee.
Shortest distance from the target wins this category.

Durability test
The Frisbee will be released from a scaffolding of 4 meters high.
Any concrete Frisbee that has less than 90 percent of its original weight will not
receive any points. Any concrete Frisbee that has less than 80% of its original
weight will be disqualified from the competition.
The weightage for each category will be announced on the day of the competition

Points for Durability
= [weight after competition / weight before competition] * weightage

The team that has been disqualified from a category will receive 0 points for
that category
The team that is disqualified from the competition will only receive 10 points for
the entire concrete Frisbee testing categories.

Repairs made during the competition
Any damages (minor) to the concrete Frisbee during transportation and handling to the
site of the event or/and during the competition, repairs are allowed to be made. For
repairing purposes, any type of tape is allowed but teams are needed to inform the
damage(s) to their concrete Frisbee to the committee before doing the repairs.
NO repairs are allowed for/to any concrete Frisbee which has encountered
serious damage(s) (such as crack, split into two, scattered and etc.) which make it to be
unfit for the competition. However, the committee holds the final say on making
judgment on this matter.
