CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY FELLOWSHIP Prayer Newsletter
March 1995
Let us give you a quick look at the last six months in
our lives. It involved manylong-awaited experiences
and some very unexpected ones.
GRADUATION -
When we came to the field in 1980 with a
four-year-old and a two-year-old, we saidwe would
never send anyof our children to boarding school.
Yet, in 1985-- after manyvisits to the boarding
school, the addition of two more children, a lot of
prayer and a direct request from our
four-year-old-turned-nine-year-old to go to boarding
school ~ we changedour minds. Slowly each of our
four children entered the boarding school world.
Suddenly in 1992, Ken and I sat staring at one
another across a muchsmaller supper table!! Then I
thought, "Well, I cansend them to boarding school. I
can even send themALL to boarding school, BUT... I
can never leave one in the States while we return to
Kenya!"

Jon, Ken, and Sarah on departure day.
Those of you reading this who are much older and
wiser than me probably learned years ago never to say
never!! I think that I am a slow learner. And now here
we sit again staring across our small supper tablewith
three children at Rift Valley Academy (RVA) and one
at Southern California College (SCC) in Costa Mesa,
California.
Our deepest thanks goes out to all of you who prayed
and are praying for all sixof us during this newseason
of our lives. Jon is doing great at college, and he hopes
that he has talked Sarah into joininghim there in
1996.
FURLOUGH -
We beganour furlough needing to raise $800 per
month additional sustainingsupport. After two
months in the States, we discovered that we would
need to add an additional $500 per month to the origi
nal $800, resulting in a whopping $1,300per month.
With only three months of furlough left, we wired our
missionary support group in Kenya and many of you
in the States to prayfor a miracle. Then we asked the
Lord for the impossible. Not only did we ask Him to
please raise the needed funds but would He do it by
the end of our fourth month Stateside so we could
enjoy the month of December with our families and be
relaxed aswe prepared to leave Jon and return to
Kenya.
Somewhere in mid-December, we realized how relaxed
we felt. Then we remembered that all of our needed
support had been raised by November 30. The God of
the Impossible did it again!!
Not only did He take care of every penny of the
needed additional support, but He provided a winch
through one of our very supportive supporters in
Holley, Oregon. And, He wove together a great display
of teamwork byour churches in Longview,
Washington, to raise funds for a cellular phone. We
personally knowwhat it is to be blessed "out of our
socks" by the Lord. Rejoice with us!!
Christiansisters enjoy the Lord together.
KENYA ROUND #4
We touched down at 4 a.m. on December 31. This
was the quickest flight in our historyof world travel;
25 and one-half hours from Portland, Oregon, to
Nairobi, Kenya. Our New Year's Evecelebration
ended at 8 p.m. that eveningwhen jet-lagovertook
The kids reentered RVAon January 3. They were
ecstatic and even packed the car for our journey to the
school while Ken and I sat drinking our morning
coffee. Ken and I then spent the next week in prayer
and planning for our return to Elang'ataEnterit (EE).
We finally made it home on January 11.
The churches here had done quite well in our
absence. The Lord had continued to cleanse and
mature the leadership and the congregations. The
clinic and the bead project continuedvery well and
made some innovative improvements. We really
praise God for His omnipresent nature.

The future at EElooks busy but hopeful. Many
people are recognizing that church is not a game and
that faith in Jesus can only be fully experienced with
all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Many
believers are gettingvery serious about their faith and
very abandoned to God's sovereignty in their lives.
PLEASE PRAY WITH US FOR:
Jonathan as he concludes his freshman year at SCC.
Sarah, Charlie, and Marcus as they get back into
step with the rhythm of boarding school.
Sanaiyet and Nabaru as they discover the deep, deep
love ofJesus.
Ken and me as we not only "talk the talk" but also
struggle to "walk the walk" at EE.
PLEASE GIVE THANKS WITH US FOR:
The Lord's abundant provision for His children.
The greatsupport network amongthe CMF-Kenya
team.
Being seated withJesus in the heavenly places far
above the troubles of this world.
Your fellow-ambassadors.
