Pipa is a four-stringed lute with a pear-shaped body.It has an
extremely wide dynamic range and remarkable expressive power.
Erhu is a two-stringe fiddle and one of the most popular Chinese
instruments.
Dizi is the traditional Chinese flute.
Pengling are two small bells used as a coloring instrument either
in ensembles or in theater music because they produce a peaceful
dream effect.
Sheng is a Chinese mouth organ, with 12 to 36 bamboo pipes. It
produces several notes simultaneously, so chords and melody can
be performed at the same time. It is also one of the oldest
Chinese musical instruments.
Yueqin-a moon-shaped lute with shorter neck and four strings,
played with a spectrum, used for accompanying ocal operas.
Yunluo-literally cloud gongs ,it is a set of ten small tuned gongs
mounted in a wooden frame.
Zheng-it has an arched surface and an elongated-trapezoid with
13 to 21 strings stretched over individual bridges.

excitement of odaiko performance is an integral part of many
Japanese matsuri (festivals).
Tsuzumi (hourglass-shape)-is of two varieties,the smaller
KOTSUZUMI and the larger OTSUZUMI which are used both
NOH and KABUKI performances.
Taiko-a Japanese drum that comes in various sizes and in used to
play a variety of musical genres.
Koto- a 13-string zither , about two meters long and made of
Paulownia wood.Koto is used in an ensemble in GAGAKU or as a
solo instrument.
Shamisen-its construction follows a model similar to that of guitar
or a banjo,employing a neck,and strings stretched across a
resonating body.
Biwa-a Japanese short-necked fretted lute , often used in
narrative storytelling.
Shakukachi-it has four or five finger holes on the front face and
a thumb hole in the rear face.
Nokan-a parallel,bamboo flute (fue) which is the only melodic
instrument used in NOH.
Hichiriki-a double reed Japanese fue used as one of two main
melodic instruments in Japanese GAGAKU music,the other being
ryuteki. Sho-it consists of 17 slender bamboo pipes ,each of
which is fitted in its base with a metal free reed.
Shinobue-a Japanese transverse flute that has a high-pitched
sound.
Ryuteki-(literally dragon flute) is a Japanese transverse fue
made of bamboo.It is used in GAGAKU.

Kayagum-an instrument with 12 strings which is also similar to the
koto of Japan and chin of China.
Geumungo-scholars believe that the name refers goguryeo and
translates to goguryeo zither or that it refers to the color that
translates to black crane zither.
Haegum-a two-stringed plucked instrument made of bamboo.
Piri-is a Korean double reed instrument used in both the folk and
classical (court) music of Korea.
Changgo-an hour-glass shaped drum that is played with two
hands;the left hand strikes the left side while the right hand
strikes the other side with a stick.
