Greetings once again in the Name of our Wonderful Lord!
It is always a pleasure to communicate with you through the means of this lettec.every so often.
Many times this is the only time you have with us, so we feel thatlijt is rather important to
keep you informed as to the things which the Lord is doing through us at Colegio Biblico.
Since our last letter, many, things have transpired. Rosa had her choir over to the house for a
special Christmas party on the 16th ofDecember. Atotal of19 girls were present. The evening
included some Christmas oriented games, the Christmas story, a gift exchange among all ofthe
choir members. Rosa gave all ofthe girls asmall jewelery item. It was afitting climax for a
semester of activity for the choir. During the second semester, the choir will be used of the
Lord in many different ways inserving Him in Latin America.
We want totake the opportunity tosay thank-you for all ofyou who remembered us during the
Christmas time through gifts, cards and prayers. We have tired to personally answer every person
who did remember us, but if there were any who did not receive areply, don't feel left out.
THANK-YOU.
During the semester break, the Baker family was able totravej tothe Nebraska panhandle for
atime ofreunion with not only our physical family, but also our spiritual family there. In less
than two weeks, we traveled over 3,000 miles and presented the work which we are doing at
Colegio Biblico atotal of 7different times. It proved to be abusy vacation and we enjoyed
every minute of it.
Upon arriving back at the campus, many things have taken place. First, the problem ofwater
in the print shop was solved ivithin four days of our return. Thanks to special gifts from two
different individuals at the Central Church ofChrist in Gering, NB, sufficient funds were avaliable
for the installation of the_,4rdn^e pipe along the foundation. Since that time, we have had
aconsiderable amount orram in Eagle Pass, but, the print shop has remained dry during this
time. PRAISE THE LORD FOR THIS BLESSING!
Things in th^ d^artment of publicity at Colegio Biblico are really humming right now! During
the past week,^mailings of 12,000 items each were prepared. I have recently written almost
every congregation in Texas in an effort ofscheduling speaking dates for our faculty during
the week-ends before and after the^^amichi Clinij:. We hope to be able to have all of our students
and faculty out during this time of special promotion for Colegio Biblico. Tl^ us^ of arranging
the dates, teams, housing, transportation and meals will all fall on my shoulders. Iask your
prayers as this time is rapidly coming upon us. It is possible that atotal of over 100 Colegio
Biblico presentations may be made during that week and a half! . -
Because that Latin American Wheels for Evangelism was origionally designed to aid in Latin
American Evangelism through the sponsorship fo workers in the Spanish fields, we have
take on partial support ofanative preacher. Some ofyou may know him, Jose
Alejandro, Rosa's brother. We will be supplimehting his work atotal of $75 per month provided
that the funds are avaliable on acontinuing basis. Jose is working in new church evangelism
in Piedras Negras and he has hopes ofestablishing another Spanish-speaking congregation
in the Eagfe Pass area. We count it apriviledge to know that the Lord has been blessing us
financially and that Latin American Wheels for Evangelism is now able to expand its ministry.
Please pray with us as the gospel issent into Latin America. " ' '
The Iglesia de Cristo, our local Spanish-speaking congregation prepared aspecial surprise
party for all ofthe girls in the school choir on January the 20th. During this event, the
ladies of the congregation presented each girl with abox of goodies and some toiletry items.

BothBilly and Barbara are doing very well. Barbara seems to be growing like a weed and
is almost bigger than Billy. She may not be as tall, but she is almost as heavy. Words are
beginning to con^vto her lips and she is already getting Spanish and English confused.
Just the other day she wanted Rosa to open to door and'said, "opele," which I think is a
cross between "open" and "abrele."
Billy is still the firecr.acker that he has alw^s been. It seems that one can never get ahead
of him because he is always trying to be the "firstest with the mostest." He is anxious for
the opportunity to get to school. He canalready writehis name and distinguish between
several letters. How good it is to have the desire to learn.
We want to close by saying thank-you for all of the support and prayers which were given
in our behalf during the past year. We will be including a full financial statement concerning
our last year in the next letter.

LATIN AMERICAN WHEELS FOR EVANGELISM EXPANDS INTO A NEW MINISTRY!!
As you are now reading this announcement, plans are being made to be^n a new and much needed
work! Latin American Wheels for Evangelism is beginninga publishing house foi: Christian literature in
Spanish. This project has been a goal of Bill's for several years; and~it"now-seems that the time is right to
begin such a project.
The first item which is being done will be the publishing of a Spanish edition of Carl Ketcherside's
book entitled. The Royal Priesthood. This project is a joint effort of Bill Baker and the Iglesia de Cristo
(Church of Christ) in Blue Island, Illinois. The translation was completed by Mariano Farias, a graduate
of Colegio Biblico and one of the best translators which our churches have available.
Bin has been type-setting the book in his spare time on the equipment which is at Colegio Biblico.
Approximately half of the book is type-set at this time. After this stage of the project is completed, it will
be printed by a commercial printing company and bound in paperback form. Bill has received quotes from
one firm in the United States and several in Mexico. These printers have equipment which would make it
more economical foK the work to be jobbed out than to be done on Colegio Biblico equiment.
During two recent trips into the interior of Mexico, Bill has found that the response to this project
is very good. It is hoped that iU of the printing costs will be imderwritten through advance Sales of the book.
The Royal Priesthood or "El Real Sacerdocio" in Spanish is an in-depth study of the Biblical concept
of the priesthood. It begins with studies concerning the Patriarchal Priesthood, the Levitical Priesthood and
then deals in a study concerning the Christian's relationship as a priest under the H^h Priesthood of Christ.
The second half of the book is devoted to a comparison of the basis for the Roman Catholic priesthood and
the Bible. Carl Ketcherade, in this section, prints in it's entirety a thesis by Dr. John A. O'Brien, a professor
at Notre Dame, entitled: The PriesthoodA Divine Institution Following every second or third paragraph,
Mr. Ketcherside compares the findings of Dr. O'Brien with the scripture. Mr. O'Brien's thesis is printed in a
special style of type so as not to confuse the reader as to who is writing at any particular moment. THIS
BOOK IS A MUST FOR EVERY NEW TESTAMENT WORK IN LATIN AMERICA!
Orders for advance copies are already being received and this book should be ready before the end of
this year.
Bill is now working only part time on this project, but at thebeginning of next year, he plans to devote
fulltjme to the publishing of further works in Spanish. Thesecond bookinjpreparation will be one by Don
- DeWelt entitled, If You Want to Preach. Interest in this volume has been expressed from as far south as Chile.
' Two different Christian colleges have already mentioned that when this work is completed, it will be used
as standard textbook material in their homeUtics classes.
Future plans for this publishing venture include a s^es of Sunday school material in Spanish. Much
interest has been expressed in this area. Many of our churches in I^tin America are forced into using
material which has been prepared by denominational groups. Material of this nature is just not available
in Spanish among our churches.
The reason for this major change in our ministry is that Bill has felt for some time the need among our
Spanish speakir^ brethren for such a project. During the past months, the Lord has been working on his
heart through several sources to strike out in fiath and see this project through. Everywhere he has gone in
Mexico during the past months, Christians have been talking to him concerning establishing such a ministry.
The Baker's are now planning a special trip into Nebraska in order to inform their supporting congre
gations and friends concerning this ministry. It is hoped that during the last two weeks of September, the
Bakers will be able to visit each of their contributing congregations. Evelyn Behm may have already been
in contact with your church about this. If you have not yet heard of the Baker's coming to your area, please
talk to your minister and if needed, contact Evelyn Behm at the Nebraska address listed above.
Rosa is continuing to work in the music department of Colegio Biblico. It is not yet known as to
whether or not she wiU be able to continue during the second semester, in that we are not sure as to where
we will be able to locate to offices for the publishing operation.
Both Billy and Barbara are growing and doing more every day. Billy is excited about the posibility of
attending school for the first time this year. He was bom 8 hours and 39 minutes too late to be enrolled in
public school so we decided to place him in a private school for his first year. He will then enter the first
grade next year in the public school system.
We ask for ycmr prayers as we follow the Lord's leading in our vital ministry here. Suciran endeavor
can only be entered into through faith and followed up because of the greatness of our Lord!

The Bakers': Bill, Rosa, Billy and Barbara

Dear Friends in Christ:
Greetings once again from "the land down south on the border, down Mexico way." We count it a
priviledge to be able to visit with you through this medium. We are only able to remain here and labor
for Him because of your concern through your prayer support and through your physical gifts. Our
family feels that you are a vital part of our work among the Latin American people.
Many exciting things have occurred since our last newsletter. The response to our establishing a
publishing ministry has been GREAT!!! The Lord enabled us to visit with many of our supporting
churches and also with several missionaries who are envolved with the Spanish work. From both
sides of the border enthusiasm is building for what may be one of the biggest projects ever undertaken
among our brotherhood in the Spanish-speaking world!!!
Our family has just increased by one! Many of you who just saw us may be wondering as to what I mean
by that. Rosa was definately not expecting when we visited Nebraska! That's right, our family Is now
five! Well, at least until next week. You see, we have been taking care of a baby temporally for the
welfare department until better arrangements can be made. It's a boy just over two months old and we
will only havaMiim for about a full week. Rosa had forgotten what it was like to have a small child at
home. Please be in prayer that this boy!s parents might be able to get everything straightened up at
home and allow the boy to have a normal life as he is growing up.
We have had many questions presented to us concerning our new ministry. We are excited to be able
to serve the Lord in this new area. We hope to be able to provide quality printed materials for all
of our missionary endeavors In all of Latin America. The challenges are great, but our God is greater.
This type of ministry will be a big shot in the arm for all of those who are now working in Latin America!
By providing materials for them, ail of our works will be able to do a better job in their respective areas.
PRESENTLY, A PUBLISHING COMPANY OF THIS NATURE DOES NOT EXIST AMONG OUR
BROTHERHOOD!! We ask for your prayers as we step out in faith to do the work God has before us.
Another question which was asked several times during our travel last month was, "How is your financial
situation?" This is a valid concern for our family as well as for those of you who are presently supporting
our ministry financially. Our mission support has been averaging only $600 per month during the recent
months. This has been enough In order for us to live on as we have had housing provided for us at Colegio
Biblico. Housing will not be provided after January 1st.
As we expand into this much needed area of endeavor, we will need additional monthly Income. We are
confident that God will provide all of our needs as we enter this new and much needed ministry. When
we came to Colegio Biblico, we began with only $150 per month pledged toward our support. God has
provided above this amount and met our actual needs for every day of our work here. WE PRAISE GOD
FOR THIS!
We know that He knows far better as to what our needs will be and we know that He can provide. PLEASE
TAKE OUR NEEDS BEFORE HIM IN PRAYER DURING THE NEXT FEW MONTHS AS WE STEP OUT
IN FAITH TO DO THE WORK WHICH HE HAS FOR US TO DO!!
After much prayerful consideration, I ordered a Volkswagen Rabbit Diesel in faith. At present, we do
not know how we will be able to purchase it upon it's arrival. I do have available credit with which we
could borrow the amount needed to make the purchase. I feel that this is a necessity in our new ministry
and have acted because of this need. As visits will be made in Mexico during the coming year, I estimate
to save over $1,000 in fuel costs alone. This savings will add up during each and every year that we use
the vehicle in Mexico. PLEASE PRAY THAT THE LORD WILL PROVIDE THE NEEDED FUNDS
PRIOR TO THE APRIL DELIVERY DATE!
It seems that there is a never ending list of needs. For this we give God the glory. If we had no needs,
it would point out at least one of two things. (1) We were not trying to do anything and therefore,
would not need anything to do it with. (2) We were self sufficient and therefore would not need to
trust in the Lord for our daily needs. I THANK GOD THAT HE ALLOWS US TO LIVE THROUGH
OUR TRUST AND FAITH IN HIM;

Rosa is now working with the girl's choir and the girl's trio in preparation for a Christmas tour.
We have begun to contact Spanish congregations in both south Texas and north Mexico in an
effort to have the four weekends prior to Christmas break filled with performances. It is possible
that the Christmas tour will envolve twenty or more congregations. Be in prayer that her preparation
and that of the girts under her direction will'not be in vain. This will provide an excellent opportunity
for God's word to be proclaimed over a wide' area of the Spanish-speaking world.
During the past four years, I have participated in several Faith Promise Ralleys in behalf of Cdlegio
Biblico. Many of these presentations have directly benefited the program of our Spanish Bible
college. As we begin our new ministry, on^ again, I feel the need to be in direct contact with those
who are supporting our work. If your congregation is planning for a time of missions emphasis in the
near future, please consider allowing us to work with you in this vital area of church growth.
Remember, ail of Latin America will be affected because of our new ministry.
Yours for a Christian Spanish-speaking world:
Bill Baker & the Baker family
Rosa, Billy & Barbara
PS. I might add that the Lord has opened a new door for our work here. During the National
Missionary Convention in Anaheim, He put me in contact with Ray Ewing from Monroe, Oregon.
Mr. Ewing is providing 1,000 Spanish New Testaments for free distribution into Spanish-speaking
areas. He has sent me confirmation on his order with the American Bible Society and also 1,000
inserts which will be placed in the testaments after their arrival here. I hope to be able to place
these New Testaments In the hands of many of our students for work in their weekend preaching
points. What a great opportunity for evangelism!!

GREETINGS ONCE AGAIN IN THE PRECIOUS NAME OF JESUS. OUR SAVIOUR,
REDEEMER AND FRIEND. It Is because of Him that we labor for His honor and glory
among the Latin American people. We continue to hold you before the throne of grace as
you maintain us here through your prayers and financial support. Please remember us during
your daily prayer times. It means so much for the work whicAi the Lord has placed in our
hands.
Onre again, the Lord has continued to work many things through our ministry here.
May we inform you as to the happenings during the recent weeks.
Rosa has been working overtime with the musical groups under her direction. In ad
dition to her regular classroom work, she has been working with her choir and trio during
several extra sessions weekly. Time has been spent in the evening hours in addition to Satur
day mornings. To date, the groups under her direction have performed a total of 6 times.
These performances have been just the beginning for something far gmater. Plans are now
being made-for a tulatuf four weekend trips into Spanish-speaking congregations in Mexico
and south Texas. We hope to be able to use the bus for the excursions which may ultimate
ly include a week-end in Monterrey, another in San Antonio, one in the Saltillo area and a
fourth weekend in the Rio Grande valley of Texas. Rosa is working up the program to be
on a special Christmas theme. Please pray for her as final preparations are being made.
At the close of our last letter, I mentioned the gift of 1,000 Spanish New Testaments.
These have already arrived and many have been distributed into the hands of needy people.
The Lord has provided several avenues for the distribution of these testaments. One young
man, a graduate of Colegio BibMco, has requested several for his use in an extremely poor
area of the mountains of Northern Mexico. The area in which he is working is so poor that
the people who are living there are not able to afford clothing and food. Some of our Colegio
personnel have aided this area by bringing them supplies and water for their daily needs.
Other New Testaments have been distributed through a variety of sourses. Many of
our students are now using them in their ''campos" or fields of service. Two radio evangelists
are able to announce that they have New Testaments available for free distribution. One
preacher in Mexico has requested 500 for use in his area of work. He wants to be able to
personally place a testament in every home in his vicinity. The effects of this ministry will
be far reaching. What a wonderful way to begin working in the area of Spanish Christian
Literature!
Progress is being made every week on the production of "The Royal Priesthood".
During the past two weeks, I have been able to type-set a total of 60 pages. Forty of these
on 'The Royal Priesthood", while the balance was for another booklet entitled, 'The
Government of the Church." The latter work was done in English by Seth Wilson and trans
lated by Isaias Escobedo, a graduate of Colegio Biblico and a well qualified writer and trans
lator.

Time grows short as our association with Colegio Biblico grows to a close. The Lord
Is opening many doors and we are confident that he will continue to open doors as v/e direct
our efforts in the direction of Spanish printed materials. We do ask, however, that you especial
ly be in prayer for our needs. Please remember to be in prayer concerning our housing needs
after the beginning of the year. We will be needing suitable office space as well as housing for
the family.
Once again, we thank you for your prayerful concern and interest in the work which
God is enabeling us to do for Him.
Taking Christ to Latin America,
