Existen tres grados de comparacin para los adjetivos en ingls, el grado
positivo, comparativo y superlativo.
Estos tipos de comparacin nos ayudan a comprobar, verificar y contrastar dos o ms sustantivos, por ejemplo:
POSITIVE Chicken is expensive El pollo es caro COMPARATIVE Pork is more expensive than chicken El puerco es ms caro que el pollo SUPERLATIVE Lobster is the most expensive La langosta es la ms cara de todas POSITIVE The chain is long La cadena es larga COMPARATIVE The chain is longer than rope La cadena es ms larga que la cuerda SUPERLATIVE The chain is the longest La cadena es la ms larga
Forma comparativa * Las palabras cortas (una slaba) agregamos ER

A snake is longer than a swarm. A mouse is smaller than a lion. THE SUPERLATIVE FORM: LA FORMA SUPERLATIVA The superlative form is est (oldest) or most (most expensive) La forma superlativa es agregar est en las palabras cortas y most en las palabras largas.
El superlativo denota el ms alto grado de una cualidad, a diferencia que las oraciones comparativas que detona comparacin entre dos cosas.
THE SUPERLATIVE * Short words (old /cheap/nice etc.) las palabras cortas agregas the + - est:
Old the oldest cheap the cheapest nice the nicest Good the best bad the worst
Big the biggest hot the hottest * Words endings in y (easy / heavy etc.) las palabras terminadas en y agregamos the + - iest
Easy the easiest heavy the heaviest pretty the prettiest
* Long words (carefull / interesting etc.) las palabras largas agregamos most
Carefull the most carefull interesting the most interesting
