- i s an acqui si ti on tool based on the DVCAM recordi ng format.
The fol l owi ng are the basi c features of the DSR- 130.
(Note: The following features and functions are also available
with the DXC-D30WS combined with the DSR-1.)
I DVCAM Rec ording Format
Sonys DVCAM recordi ng format i s desi gned for professi onal
use. Whi l e mai ntai ni ng the pl ayback compati bi l i ty wi th the
consumer DV recordi ng format, hi gher pi cture qual i ty i s

I Equivalent to One-piec e Camc order
The DXC- D30 and the DSR- 1 have been careful l y desi gned so
that the DSR- 130 can operate j ust l i ke a one- pi ece camcorder.
The recordi ng status and the warni ng messages from the
DSR- 1 can be superi mposed on the vi ewfi nder of the
DXC- D30. The body of the DSR- 1 and the DXC- D30 are
made of magnesi um, whi ch makes the DSR- 130 a l i ghtwei ght
yet durabl e camcorder.
When recordi ng wi th the DSR- 1, both DVCAM Mi ni
Cassette tapes (PDVM - 40ME/ 32ME/ 22ME/ 12ME or
PDVM- 40N/ 32N) and DVCAM Standard Cassette tapes
(PDV- 184ME/ 124ME/ 94ME/ 64ME or PDV- 184N/ 124N/
64N) can be used wi thout any adaptors. Maxi mum recordi ng

Cl i pLi nk system i n combi nati on wi th Sonys new di gi tal vi deo
products such as the DSR- 130 Di gi tal Camcorder, the Di gi tal
VTRs (DSR- 85/ 80/ 60), and the ES- 7 Edi tStati on System wi l l
enhance the producti vi ty and operati ng effi ci ency throughout
the enti re vi deo producti on process.
I ClipLink Data
The DSR- 130 automati cal l y generates two types of useful
i nformati on whi l e shooti ng, whi ch drasti cal l y reduces the work
tradi ti onal l y requi red duri ng the vi deo tape edi ti ng process.
One i s Index Pi cture whi ch i s a di gi tal l y mi ni aturi zed pi cture of
the vi deo i mage of the i n poi nt of each shot - MARK IN
poi nt* . Index Pi ctures are recorded on the DVCAM tape. The
other i s shot i nformati on needed for the edi ti ng process, such
as reel number, scene number, take number, ti me code of
MARK IN/ MARK OUT poi nt* , and OK/ NG status. Thi s
reference data i s stored i n the Cassette Memory of the DVCAM
Cassette Tape.
The combi nati on of these two types of i nformati on i s cal l ed
Cl i pLi nk data. The Cl i pLi nk data can be qui ckl y upl oaded to
the Edi tStati on System from the DVCAM Di gi tal VTRs, so that
the sel ecti on of usabl e shots can be done usi ng onl y vi sual
Cl i pLi nk i nformati on di spl ayed on the moni tor of the
Edi tStati on. The Cl i pLi nk system el i mi nates the work of
havi ng to l oad al l the shots on the tape to the Edi tStati on
System.
I TAKE button
The DXC- D30 has a TAKE button on the front of the camera.
Dependi ng on the si tuati on, the user can assi gn i t to operate
ei ther i n a MARK or a CUE mode usi ng the VF Menu System.
In the MARK mode, i t tri ggers to record the ti me code of
MARK IN or MARK OUT poi nts* as wel l as an Index Pi cture of
the MARK IN poi nt duri ng shooti ng everyti me i t i s pushed.
The MARK button i s useful , for exampl e, i f the program
ori gi nati on i s based on a certai n sequence.
In the CUE mode, the moment the recordi ng i s started or
ended i s regarded as the MARK IN or MARK OUT poi nt. In
addi ti on to thi s, the ti me code of the CUE poi nt* * i s recorded
by pushi ng the CUE button. Loggi ng of the CUE poi nt i s
useful for shooti ng events where the shooti ng sequence i s
undetermi ned or very changeabl e.
* MARK IN/ MARK OUT point:
Starti ng/ Endi ng poi nt of a durati on to be used for
edi ti ng. In the Cl i pLi nk System, the Index Pi cture of the
MARK IN poi nt i s automati cal l y recorded as wel l .
**CUE point:
The poi nt where an operator wants to revi ew work at a
l ater ti me. The CUE poi nt does not accompany an Index
