SAP Event Management

Capability Statement
What is SAP Event Manager?
Businesses today operate in a highly distributed, outsourced and networked environment.
Globalization is upon us, which means that we have to be more intelligent with the way we operate.
We have to collaborate efficiently and effectively and ensure that regulations are enforced during
the entire process.

We need to track and trace our products across the end-to-end supply chain measuring performance
and reacting to deviations to the plan. We need complete visibility of our end-to-end processes across
all the geographical and partner boundaries. We need the ability to quickly adapt to changing
conditions in our process. We need to head off issues before they become an issue...

With the SAP® Event Management application your company can monitor and manage events across
your distributed processes involving partners, inventories and assets. It captures events from your
system and your partners’ systems, analyzes them against their predefined plan and alerts or
workflows a response to the required people to react if deviations are found.

Our Approach
Before embarking on a SAP
EM project we will first
conduct an assessment to see
the level of “Process
Maturity” the current
organization displays. A
potential client can take this
assessment ahead of time on
their own if they wish. It’s
available on the Q Data
website
(http://www.qdatausa.com ->
Click “Find out more” under
Event Management Self
Assessment)

Our approach is as tactical as it is strategic. We show you where in the detail the value lies. We work
with you, not just for you. We give practical, hands-on knowledge of what SAP Event Management is
and how to use it to provide value to your organization. We implement functionality that captures
your events and measures them against the plan. We highlight key performance indicators for each of
your processes to enable you to monitor their performance against targets. We put you on the path
towards increased profitability through visibility and efficiency.

We will take your organization that is PLANNING and EXECUTING to SENSING and RESPONDING and
finally allowing you to get to MEASURING and ADAPTING

Service Offering
Implementation Services
Q Data challenges the traditional methods of SAP implementation. We have recognized that our
client’s needs differ, depending on the industry, business practices, and culture, so our methodology,
while maintaining a firm structure, has the flexibility to meet these specialized needs.

Q Data’s Implementation Methodology is based on our

Business Value Realization (BVR) methodology for SAP EM.
It has been established over many years of delivering
tangible results to companies all over the world.

Our 6 phase BVR Implementation Plan ensures that SAP EM

is both implemented and that the benefits are realized at the
end of the project.

 Phase 1: Preparation

 Phase 2: Analysis & Design - Custom design template

used exclusively by us for SAP EM implementations

 Phase 3: Configuration and Development - The

design is handed off to developers to realize the
design

 Phase 4: QA and Training

 Phase 5: Go Live and Operations

 Phase 6: Business Value Realization- The step that everyone misses: Ensure that you get the
value that you were promised.

Our consultants all have many years of experience and typically average more than 10 years in SAP
specific knowledge. We bring “thought leaders” to the client, to perform the analysis and design of
the SAP EM solution. Getting the design right, up front, is a key factor for success. (See the Expertise
section for a detailed list of the relevant in-house SAP EM experience.)

Project Management Services

Q Data, and their thought leaders, are well equipped to deal with the most challenging SAP EM
projects. Their many years of experience in this area leads to insight that only experience can give.
Should you wish to staff your own SAP EM implementation team but do not wish to have the
implementation partner run with the project or you do not have the expertise to do so, Q Data can
offer a skilled project manager to execute the project plan for you using either our BVR
implementation methodology or your own implementation methodology.

Quality Review Services
If you already have a project under way, or already have a SAP EM solution in place and wish to have a
neutral, independent, expert review of the solution then we can offer one of our thought leaders to
perform the “audit” of the solution for you. An unbiased, independent view of the solution will be
delivered together with any recommendations for improvements.

Assessments
We offer several assessments in the SAP Event Management area, namely:

 A free self assessment: shows where your organization lies in relation to other organizations'
effectiveness in managing key areas described in the Maturity Quadrants (shown under Our
Approach) as related to SAP EM.

 A 1 day Readiness Assessment: (Are you ready?) If your organization is contemplating the
benefits of utilizing EM across your supply chain, but do not know if you have the process,
people, and technological understanding, then you might benefit from an Event Management
Readiness Assessment. This early-on effort puts a preliminary roadmap of actions necessary to
prepare your organization for a more in-depth week long assessment of education and high
level design.
 A 5 day Wellness Assessment: (How ready are you?) Help companies understand the
functionality better, identify areas of use and make a good decision on whether it’s a fit for
the company or not. The Assessment Report has been used to justify funding for Event
Management projects, determine skills needed to perform the project, and to schedule and
manage a complete project.
• We believe that the main value of this assessment for a company is the Roadmap
generated at the end of this project. This Roadmap will allow the accurate scheduling and
assignment of resources, definition of project scope, deliverables, and a project schedule.
• The assessment will provide more specifics for qualitative and measurable benefits in the
areas where Event Management plays a strong role. i.e. Providing total visibility to your
extended business processes, and having them flow against a pre-defined plan with
milestones, allowing you to manage only those that are exceptions to the plan.
• Scope of the Assessment
The following activities would be performed during an SAP EM Assessment:
– An Overview presentation on what SAP EM and what it can do for you ½ day
– Detailed generic training covering the configuration of SAP EM 1 ½ days
– Standard EM Scenario Implementation 1 day
– Conducting an analysis of your business processes 1 day
– Executive presentation covering opportunities and realization plan 1 day
