Online Monitoring Based Versatile Tele Medical System
Abstract
Telemedicine is a field, which if made a practical possibility for retail users will revolutionize the
complete health care industry. But until now telemedicine has been very restricted, being used only
in big hospitals and research centres. The main obstacle in telemedicine is the cost involved at
various stages of the telemedical system.
Thin client servers are devices which can function like web servers. These are tiny servers that
typically cost less than one tenth the cost of a general computer system and consume a fraction of a
watt electrical power.
These servers work on real time operating systems and hence are very reliable and can work for
years without requiring any maintenance. The inputs from the various bio medical sensors at the
patient end are interfaced to the thin client server. Thus the patients parameters are continuously
published on a server, which in turn is connected to the internet. This information is available for the
concerned doctor(s) to view any time.
On the doctors end the project will replace the conventional bio medical devices with their virtual
equivalents using customized virtual instrumentation (VI). Using VI on a computer or a doctors
laptop, all the different biomedical monitoring devices can be implemented for a fraction of the cost
of the original devices. Thus the cost factor is addressed. Also since the virtual instrument is basically
a software program, it can be taken anywhere either on storage medium like a pen drive or a CD, or
it can even is saved as attachments in emails. This also addresses the flexibility factor.

Existing System
1. In the Existing system, the patients have to visit hospital for consulting with doctors
2. The conversation through telephone and Internet will not make the patients feel
comfortable

Proposed System
1. In the proposed system, thin client server is used for communicating the patients
parameters with doctor
2. The doctor will be able to look at the patients records, when he is at remote place.
