Two tools are required to replace the fixing film; one to release pressure on the rear of the tension roller, and one to release pressure on the front of the tension roller. Replacing the fixing film 1. Removing the fixing assembly 1) Open the front door. 2) Open the delivery door. 3) Shift down the feeding assembly releasing lever to release the feeding assembly. 4) Remove the screw, and remove the fixing assembly front cover. 5) Cut the tie-wrap, and disconnect the connec- tor; then, remove the three screws, and take the fixing assembly out through the front of the copier. 2. Removing the upper fixing unit Caution: 1. Be careful not to touch the surface of the fix- ing film. 2. When replacing the fixing film, take care not to damage the heater, rollers, and fixing film. 3. Do not touch any paint-locked screws. 1) Remove the pressure releasing lever tension spring from the front and the rear. 2) Remove the E-ring and the washer from the front of the fixing assembly; then remove the pressure releasing lever. 3) Remove the E-ring and the washer from the rear of the fixing assembly; then, remove the pressure releasing lever. Then remove the fixing film. Caution: Do not touch the face of the fixing heater. Reference: If you do not have the pressure releasing tools, try pushing the point indicated when pulling out the fixing film. 4. Install the fixing film Caution: 1. The fixing film must be installed with the cor- rect orientation (front, rear). Orient it so that the end with a semi-transparent side is at the rear (i.e., insert the film with the semi-trans- parent end first). 2. Do not touch the surface of the fixing film or the fixing heater. Note 1 You may end the adjustment if RUNNING display (2) is OK at the end of T-ROLLER FIX (1). If NG, on the other hand, use the value under CW and CCW indicated to the right of FILM SPEED (3). CW : clockwise CCW : counterclockwise Note 2 According to the numbers under CW and CCW indicated to the right of FILM SPEED (3), turn the white screw (Figure 2-26) for the numbers. (The number represents the number of clicks on the white screw.) EX. 1 If the number in parentheses under FILM SPEED (3) is 5, turn the white screw clockwise for five clicks (Figure 2-26). EX. 2 If the number in parentheses under FILM SPEED (3) is 4, turn the white screw clockwise for four clicks.
