JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Family Services Intern



Employment Status: Part-time,
Unpaid Internship

Reports to: Family Support
Specialist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Family Services Intern will report directly to the Family Support Specialist and will
have the opportunity to directly support Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denvers Critical
Home Repair (CHR) program by monitoring families progress toward successful
program completion. The Family Services Intern will be able to apply experience, skills,
and education while gaining leadership skills and practical office, customer service, and
community engagement experience. Habitat is committed to an employee-oriented,

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond to Critical Home Repair (CHR) inquiries and answer program questions
Communicate program details with CHR families over the phone, in-person at the
Habitat office, or in the familys home
Assist in the preparation, translation, and mailing of written communication with
CHR partners
Support the scheduling and tracking of CHR partnership plans
Update CHR files as needed with any family or financial changes
Maintain CHR electronic and physical files according to Habitat confidentiality
procedures

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
English fluency and basic conversational Spanish required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to use or learn to use Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
Ability to use or learn to use office equipment including computer, printer, fax,
scanner and telephone
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job responsibilities
Applicants with familiarity of the Globeville neighborhood and surrounding
community strongly desired

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:
Most work is performed in an office setting at a desk
Must be able to work at a computer and speak on the phone for extended
periods of time
Must have the ability to drive personal vehicle, Habitat vehicle or utilize public
transportation for travel to offsite meetings and events

HOURS AND COMPENSATION:
Internship duration is 3-4 months during the spring school semester
Weekly hour requirements are between 12-16 hours, to be conducted within the
timeframe of a standard work week (Monday Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm)
This is an unpaid internship, but if the applicant is in college, Habitat for
Humanity will take any necessary steps with the educational institution in order to
acquire college credit as compensation for the internship.
