CCOT Essay outline: Evaluate the significance of the continuities and changes brought by
Muslim trade in Europe, Africa and the Indian Ocean regions. Include cultural and political
changes as well as the trade routes they used or established. Identify the location of trading
centers, the goods carried and the cultures which were involved in this trade.
Trade was always a major part of life from the beginning. There was always some sort
of trade or exchange that took place from the beginning of our human story. There was a
significant amount of continuities and changes brought in Europe, Africa and the Indian
Ocean regions. These significant continuities and changes will be shown and addressed in
order of Muslim trade in Europe, then Africa and finally Indian Ocean regions. There will also
be varios sub points addressing the cultural and political changes of these trade routes in
these regions.
Firstly, with the rapidly growing Muslim culture, Muslims decided to expand; ways they
expanded was through trade this also resulted in the spread of their religions. Europe was one
of the regions that Muslims attempted to infiltrate. At the time Europe was insanely die hard
Christians so there was no way that the Muslims could have spread the gospel. The Europeans
wanted nothing to do with the Muslims. In fact they sent Crusades to destroy the Muslim,

which resulted in quite a bit of bloodshed. Muslims had no success, they tried trade which was
slightly successful but I believe there many goal was to spread Islamic cultural.
However when Muslims were just taking off they were able to conquer a great amount
of Europe which did result in cultural domination and political change. For example they built
mosques in Europe and took control politically. So in cause and effect due to the Crusades the
Muslims got angry and slaughter most of Europe which resulted in the change of Europe. With
the Muslim domination of Europe Muslims were able to impose ideas on Europe like water
ways. And provided cleans water. Muslims in Europe also made trade more frequent.
Now onto the African region, with the Muslims blooming, Muslims were able to further
their trade dominance. Muslims were always traders and the continued to trade with Africa on
the trans-Saharan trade route. Muslims trade everything from potter to pelts with the African
regions. So Muslim was quite successful in Africa. The cause and effect of Muslim trade in Africa
was the spread of culture. It wasnt a significant change in cultural but there was a change.
Politically there was no change Africa continued on their same track politically.
Finally the Indian Ocean Region, Muslims were also able to trade with the Indians. It was
friendly and there was trade but no Muslim adoption. The cultural continued. The cause of
trade to Indians was adoption of boats for the Muslims and other great ideas. Muslims were

able to take their basic Kaba trading and infiltrate more regions because they had new
resources that they got with the Indians.
In conclusion Muslims brought many changes and also no changes which resulted in
continuities of these regions. The biggest changes were found in Europe, due to the Muslims
taking it over, and being able to further trade. As you can see there was a significant amount of
continuities and changes brought in Europe, Africa and the Indian Ocean regions, along with
various analytical statements showing the cause and effects of these trades.
