1. Introduction
Nowadays building construction is a booming industry in all over world not only also Sri Lanka.
So the demand of building components (Materials) touched the peak. In this situation building
construction have find an alternative material and the materials uses in construction has to
satisfy the Sustainable and Green aspects. And also it should give positive result on Quality,
Cost, Durability and Aesthetical wises. The dissertation talks about a single material which has
all of the properties mentioned above.
The famous Winged Statue of Eros was the first erected Aluminum Cast in London, 1893. Now
it is the iconic symbol of the city. After that Aluminum has get involved into Construction
industry little by little. The Aluminum Composite Panel was introduced in 1898 to cover the
Dome of a Gioacchinos Church in Rome. The dome says the durability and the quality of
Aluminum till now, because the Aluminum dome is still survive there.
Today in modern construction Aluminum is playing major component and it influence in a host
of applications in buildings. Aluminum have been use vast application in buildings such as
Curtain wall, Windows, Doors, Sky Lights, Domes, Ceiling Systems, External Wall Claddings,
Roofing and even more.
Here we are going to investigate, the efficiency of Aluminum in Building Construction in
various concept. Including sustainability of Aluminum and Green Concept of Aluminum.

2. Aim

To investigate the efficiency of aluminum in Building Construction by Cost wise,
Quality wise, Durability wise and Aesthetical wise. Even compare the aspects of
Sustainable and Green Concepts.

3. Objectives

To identify Applications of Aluminum in Building Construction.
To identify how the properties of Aluminum is help to use in Application of Buildings
and innovation construction applications in Aluminum.
To compare aluminum and other traditional material used in construction industry
and how Aluminum accomplish the green and sustainable concepts.
To identify Growth and the challenges of Aluminum Construction in Sri Lankan
Construction Industry.
To suggest Aluminum is best material rather than other traditional material.

4. Methodology

Find Historical reviews about Aluminum in all over world by journals, publications and
other internet resources. Ex: ICTAD publications
Find out the Aluminum application that are used in Sri Lankan Building project by data
collection from Aluminum Contractors
Find out Advantages and Disadvantages on Aluminum by interviewing clients.
Preparation of Questionnaire between the Main Contractors, Clients and Aluminum
Contractors
Case Studies of issues and challenges regarding Aluminum

5. Hypothesis

Aluminum is best material comparing cost, durability, quality, aesthetical appearance, eco-
friendly and sustainable in Building Construction Industries

Aluminum is not best material comparing cost, durability, quality, aesthetical appearance,
eco-friendly and sustainable in Building Construction Industries

6. Scope and Limitations

Identify and Investigate Uses and Application of Aluminum; and how its efficiency on the
construction time, cost and quality. Most probably the subject is target on Colombo
construction industry. Even, how aluminum satisfies the Green and Sustainable construction
aspects.
