CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
This chapter presents the conclusion and suggestion based on the findings and
discussion of data analysis.
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings and discussion of the research, it can be concluded that
the use of three phase techniques in reading short stories is able to improve the
vocabulary mastery of the first year students at SMA Negeri 1 Rilau Ale in academic
year 2011/2012. It was showed by the t-test value which was greater than t-table
(14.246>2.054), and the mean score of the students posttest (8.050) which was higher
than the mean score of the students pretest (4.633).
B. Suggestion
Based on the result of the data analysis and conclusion, the researcher
proposes some suggestions as follows:
1. Based on the result of this study, it is suggested that English teachers
implement reading short story to help the students in improving their
vocabulary.
2. Further researchers are suggested to use different types of text such as:
description, recount, exposition, and persuasion, also on different grades and
levels of education to see if the implementation of reading can effectively in
improving vocabulary mastery of the students.
