Aims & Objectives (Learning Outcomes) Top
This is a core ME module. It covers the fundamental engineering principles on kinematics and kinetics. Engineering
applications based on the above will be applied to solving engineering mechanism problems including the theoretical
development and practical application of mechanism, machinery and vibration. The salient features of the principles
to be applied for each instance will be clearly explained and the interpretation of the results obtained will be
highlighted. Students are expected to be able to handle most industrial engineering problems and to improve on the
design of machinery based on the knowledge gained from this course.
The specific module learning outcomes are the following.
1. Understand the principles of kinematics and kinetics of rigid body motion.
2. Apply the knowledge of kinematics and kinetics to the analysis of machines and mechanisms.
3. Apply the knowledge of dynamics to solve mechanical vibration problems.
