Pyra-Tech was a turnkey engineering consulting company. We specialized in fast track
hardware & software development and limited quantity prototype and production runs of
electronic systems and subsystems.
• Hardware design and production management where I managed design and
production budgets as large as $1M.
• Responsibilities included using customer product specifications to project R&D
time and material cost as well as overall extended cost for production quantities.
• Qualified vendors and negotiated price and delivery schedules for all material,
components, metal work, wire etc for JIT production. (JIT is the precursor and
foundation of LEAN and Six Sigma protocols.)
1983 uP Applications Labs, Inc., Norcross, Ga.

1986 uP Application Lab's Mission was to introduce cutting edge technology and software
solutions to the Nondestructive testing industry, especially in Ultrasound applications in
support of my Employer's (Jess W. Jackson) product line.
• Developed a microprocessor based controller for the KB 6000, 32 Channel
Ultrasound System for Kraut Kramer Branson, a leader in Ultrasonic technology
and instrumentation. This system was the first commercially available digitally
interfaced & programmable Ultrasonic Test system.

• Developed a "Remote Signal Gating" system for the KB-6000 for General Electric
Jet Turbine Division. This system allows operators to remotely control "Signal
Monitors" in real-time as it adjusts to ultrasonic signals in specific "time frames."
This greatly reduced the time required to ultrasonically scan a jet engine turbine.
• Developed a Linear Back Echo Signal Attenuator for Northrop Grumman's
Composite Materials research division.

nondestructive testing of materials industry. This includes Ultrasound, X-Ray, Eddy

• Under my direction Jackson's Service Department was certified by Kraut-Kramer
Branson, leading manufacturers of Ultrasound technology as the sole rep firm in
the US qualified to engineer and perform modifications to their equipment.
• As Jackson's Service and Engineering Manager I started uP Applications Labs, Inc.
to support our mission to be the Technology Leaders in the NDT community.
• Our customers included the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Southern Railroad,
General Electric Nuclear and Jet Turbine Divisions, U.S. Navy, Northrop,
&Lockheed Corp.
