(Unlike Vishnu sahasranama, where the hala sruthi is the art of the
stotra, in case of Laitha Sahasranama, hala sruthi is the ne!t chater
and searate from it. So it is not recited along with the thousand names
of Lalitha. "t is as er the desire of a de#otee that " am translating this
great work, which occurs in $arkandeya urana, it is taught by Sage
$arkandeya to sage %gasthya,&



'ama sahasram khaditham they ghatothbha#a,
Rahasyaanam rahasyam cha Lalitha reethi dayakam,
%anena sadrusam stotram na bhootham na bha#ishyathi. (

These ())) names which were told, *h %gasthya,
%re secret of the secrets and are #ery dear to Lalitha.
This tye of rayer has ne#er e!isted in the ast or will e!ist in future.

Sar#a roga rasamanam sar#a samath ra#ardhanam,
Sar#aaath mruthyu shamanam akala mruthyu ni#aranam. +

This cures all diseases and gi#es rise to all tyes of wealth,
"t cures all accidental deaths and is an antidote to untimely death.

Sar#a ,wararthi hananam deergayushya radhayakam,
Puthra radhama uthraanaam urushartha radhayakam.

*r digging one crore wells with water in the deserts,
*r feeding one crore :rahmins daily during the famine,
*r doing with great attention train one thousand children.

Thath unyam koti gunitham labhyeth unyamanuthamam,
Rahasya nama saahasre namno ayekasya keerthanaath,

That would be difficult to get to this man.

*ne who wants fame would get fame,
%nd one who wants knowledge would get knowledge,

Singing these thousand names,
%nd also following oneEs own 9harma,
;ould hel reach his goal without any roblem.

5alou aaika bahule dharmanushtana #ar,athe,
'amanu keerthanam mukthwa nrunaam nanya

"n the age of 5ali , when all 9harmas are forsaken,
$en would get sal#ation by singing these names and no other.

Loukeekath #achanath mukhyam Vishnu nama keerthanam,
