Maintenance and Cleaning It is strongly recommended to refer maintenance of internal electronics to qualified technical personnel. Disconnect power supply from the instrument prior to maintenance. Keep the top plate and the chassis clean. In case of spills, unplug the instrument and remove spills immediately with paper towel or soft cloth. However, do not attemp to clean the plate surface when it is hot. If necessary, clean unit with a non-abrasive cleaner such as a soft cloth and mild detergent or soap. Do not use aggressive solvents for cleaning. Periodically clean the exterior surfaces of the instrument. Unplug the instrument before cleaning. During cleaning, ensure that the cleaning agent does not enter the interior of the instrument. After cleaning, ensure the unit is dry before putting it backin operation. Warranty One year limited warranty against manufacturing defect. Abuse or misuse of the instrument renders the warranty null and void. Heating elements, due to their susceptibility to overheating and contamination, are not covered by the one year limited warranty unless it is proven that their failure is not due to excessive high temperature or contamination. As such, all failed heating elements must be returned to our factory for inspection. The manufacturer disclaims any other warranty, expressed or implied. The liability of themanufacturer for any damage or loss resulting from the us of this instrument is limited to the refund of the purchase price of this instrument. STIRRING HOTPLATE --- FAVORIT HS0707V2 Set Up Intruction The stirring hotplate Favorit HS0707V2 is a general purpose laboratory heating and stirring instrument. Place the instrument on a level and dry bench-top. Liquid to be heated should be contained in a flat bottom vessel for efficient heat transfer. If using glass containers, ensure that they are made of heat resistant glass such as borosilicate. It is not recommended to use containers made of sodalime glass or metal. Avoid using heavy containers or containers with insulating materials like sand baths. This instrument must be connected to a poperly grounded power outlet to avoid shock hazard. The power supply requirementis 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz single phase. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. Do not use the instrument in corrosive atmospheresor in the presence of hazardous, flammable or combustible materials. The instrument should be installed at least 12 inches away from combustible materials. It should not be used for heating flammable liquids or solids. Use the instrument for its intended purpose only and in the mannner that it should be operated. Practise extreme caution when operating the instrument. STIRRING HOTPLATE --- FAVORIT HS0707V2 Operating Instruction During initial operation, a slight odour or smoke may be emitted from the heater insulating material. However, this will dissipate within a few minutes and will not affect the operation or performance of the hot plate. Be extremely careful when working with corrosive liquids. Use hand and eye protection when handling hazardous chemicals. Do not use the instrument to heat flammable substances. The top plate surface would remain hot even the unit has been turned off for some time. Avoid contact. Hot Plate Operation 1. Carefully pour the liquid to be heated into the vessel. Place the vessel on the top plate. 2. Turn the HEAT control knob clockwise toposition 1 on the scale and the amber Heat indicator light up. This turns on the heater and the hot plate starts to heat up to minimum temperature. 3. To increase the temperature, turn the HEAT control knob clockwise to the required setting. To decrease the temperature, turn the HEAT control knob counter- clockwise. The scale of 1 to 10 surrounding the control knob serves as an indication of the heating power. 4. Always turn the HEAT control knob to the Off position when heating is not longer required. Stirrer Operation 1. Gently drop a stirring bar into a flat bottom vessel. Carefully pour the solution to be mixed into the vessel. Place the vessel on the top plate. 2. Turn the STIR contol knob clockwise until a click is heard. This turns on the magnetic stirrer and the green Stir indicator light up. The stirring bar can be seen rotating with minimum speed. 3. To increase the speed, turn the ;STIR contol knob clockwise until the required mixing action is achieved. To decrease the speed, turn the STIR control knob counter-clockwise. It is advisable to increase or decrease the speed gradually. The scale of 1 to 10 surrounding the control knob serves as an indication of the stirring strength. 4. Ensure that the stirring action does not cause the liquid to splash out of the container. 5. Always turn the STIR control knob to the Off position when stirring is not longer required.
