Commodity-Wise Freight Revenue Earnings of Railways Goes Up by 11.38
Per Cent During April-October 2014
The Indian Railways has generated Rs. 57012.74 crore of revenue
earnings from commodity-wise freight traffic during April-October 2014 as
compared to Rs. 51189.29 crore during the corresponding period last
year, registering an increase of 11.38 per cent. Railways carried 621.66
million tonnes of commodity-wise freight traffic during April-October 2014
as compared to 593.27 million tonnes carried during the corresponding
period last year, registering an increase of 4.79 per cent.
During the month of October 2014, Railways generated Rs. 8950.69 crore
as compared to Rs. 7731.51 crore during the same period last year,
registering an increase of 15.77 per cent. Out of which, Rs. 4315.00 crore
came from transportation of 46.20 million tonnes of coal, followed by Rs.
598.62 crore from 8.38 million tonnes of iron ore for exports, steel plants
and for other domestic user, Rs. 703.94 crore from 8.24 million tonnes of
cement, Rs. 734.05 crore from 4.35 million tonnes of foodgrains, Rs.
480.52 crore from 3.48 million tonnes of petroleum oil and lubricant
(POL), Rs. 546.52 crore from 3.21 million tonnes of Pig iron and finished
steel from steel plants and other points, Rs. 510.82 crore from 4.29
million tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 166.76 crore from 1.58 million tonnes of
raw material for steel plants except iron ore, Rs. 384.90 crore from 4.12
million tonnes by container service and Rs. 509.56 crore from 5.37 million
tonnes of other goods.

Indian Railways Freight Loading UP by 4.79 Per Cent
During April-October 2014
Indian Railways carried 621.66 million tonnes of revenue earning freight
traffic during 1st April to 31st October 2014. The freight carried shows an
increase of 28.41 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 593.25 million
tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year,
registering an increase of 4.79 per cent.
During the month of October 2014, the revenue earning freight traffic
carried by Indian Railways was 89.22 million tonnes. There is an increase
of 6.97 million tonnes over the actual freight traffic of 82.25 million
tonnes carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year,
showing an increase of 8.47 per cent.

Railways Revenue earnings up by 12.02 per cent during


April 2014 - September 2014
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during 1st April
2014 to 30th September 2014 were Rs. 73403.67 crore compared to Rs. 65525.85
crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 12.02 per cent.
The total approximate earnings from goods during 1st April 2014 30th September
2014 were Rs. 48771.58 crore compared to Rs. 44162.15 crore during the same period
last year, registering an increase of 10.44 per cent.
The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during 1st April 2014 30th
September 2014 were Rs. 21079.09 crore compared to Rs. 18099.80 crore during the
same period last year, registering an increase of 16.46 percent.
The approximate revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs.1979.91 crore
during April 2014 September 2014 compared to Rs. 1850.17 crore during the same
period last year, registering an increase of 7.01 per cent.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during 1st April 2014 30th
September 2014 were 4253.32 million compared to 4255.81 million during the same
period last year, showing a decrease of 0.06 per cent. In the suburban and nonsuburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April 2014 - September
2014 were 2310.97 million and 1942.35 million compared to 2273.42 million and
1982.39 million registering an increase of 1.65 per cent and a decrease of 2.02 per
cent respectively during the same period last year.

Commodity-Wise Freight Revenue Earnings of Railways Goes up


by 10.59 Per Cent During April-September 2014

The Indian Railways has generated Rs. 48062.07 crore of revenue earnings from
commodity-wise freight traffic during April-September 2014 as compared to Rs.
43457.78 crore during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of
10.59 per cent. Railways carried 532.44 million tonnes of commodity-wise freight
traffic during April-September 2014 as compared to 511 million tonnes carried during
the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.20 per cent.

During the month of September 2014, Railways generated Rs. 7703.85 crore as
compared to Rs. 6992.18 crore during the same period last year, registering an
increase of 10.18 per cent. Out of which, Rs. 3519.49 crore came from transportation
of 42.45 million tonnes of coal, followed by Rs. 564.70 crore from 8.48 million tonnes
of iron ore for exports, steel plants and for other domestic user, Rs. 690.02 crore from
8.97 million tonnes of cement, Rs. 624.78 crore from 4.40 million tonnes of foodgrains,
Rs. 365.90 crore from 3.20 million tonnes of petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), Rs.
488. crore from 3.37 million tonnes of Pig iron and finished steel from steel plants and
other points, Rs. 403.75 crore from 4.04 million tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 156.07 crore
from 1.66 million tonnes of raw material for steel plants except iron ore, Rs. 385.18
crore from 4.23 million tonnes by container service and Rs. 505.02 crore from 5.91
million tonnes of other goods.

Commodity-Wise Freight Revenue Earnings of


Railways goes up by 14.72 per cent during
the Month of July 2014 & 9.30 per cent during
April-July 2014
The Indian Railways has generated Rs. 32451.31 crore of
revenue earnings from commodity-wise freight traffic during
April-July 2014 as compared to Rs. 29690.16 crore during the
corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 9.30
per cent. Railways carried 357.58 million tonnes of commoditywise freight traffic during April-July 2014 as compared to 343.00
million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year,
registering an increase of 4.25 per cent.
During the month of July 2014, Railways generated Rs. 7909.354
crore as compared to Rs. 6894.61 crore during the same period
last year, registering an increase of 14.72 per cent. Out of the
total earnings of Rs. 7909.35 crore during the month of July
2014, Rs. 3471.90 crore came from transportation of 42.91
million tonnes of coal, followed by Rs. 626.06 crore from 9.73
million tonnes of iron ore for exports, steel plants and for other
domestic user, Rs. 747.92 crore from 9.78 million tonnes of
cement, Rs. 649.59 crore from 4.64 million tonnes of foodgrains,
Rs. 491.36 crore from 3.81 million tonnes of petroleum oil and
lubricant (POL), Rs. 471.38 crore from 3.13 million tonnes of Pig
iron and finished steel from steel plants and other points, Rs.
396.62 crore from 3.96 million tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 125.38
crore from 1.33 million tonnes of raw material for steel plants
except iron ore, Rs. 398.53 crore from 4.25 million tonnes by
container service and Rs. 530.41 crore from 6.36 million tonnes
of other goods.

Commodity-Wise Freight Revenue of Railways


Goes up by 7.66 % during April-June 2014
The Indian Railways have generated Rs. 24541.96 crore of
revenue earnings from commodity-wise freight traffic during
April-June 2014 as compared to Rs. 22795.55 crore during the
corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 7.66
per cent. Railways carried 267.68 million tonnes of commoditywise freight traffic during April-June 2014 as compared to 256.79
million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year,
registering an increase of 4.24 per cent.
Out of the total earnings of Rs. 8136.70 crore from commoditywise freight traffic during the month of June 2014, Rs. 3533.04
crore came from transportation of 41.57 million tonnes of coal,
followed by Rs. 700.40 crore from 9.91 million tonnes of iron ore
for exports, steel plants and for other domestic user, Rs. 760.14
crore from 9.25 million tonnes of cement, Rs. 696.75 crore from
4.57 million tonnes of foodgrains, Rs. 481.98 crore from 3.63
million tonnes of petroleum oil and lubricant (POL), Rs. 515.14
crore from 3.27 million tonnes of Pig iron and finished steel from
steel plants and other points, Rs. 421.70 crore from 3.84 million
tonnes of fertilizers, Rs. 113.41 crore from 1.22 million tonnes of
raw material for steel plants except iron ore, Rs. 373.96 crore
from 3.96 million tonnes by container service and Rs. 540.18
crore from 5.92 million tonnes of other goods.

Indian Railways Revenue Earnings up by 9.48


% during
April - June 2014
The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating
basis during 1st April 2014 to 30th June 2014 were Rs. 36674.17
crore compared to Rs. 33499.53 crore during the same period
last year, registering an increase of 9.48 per cent.
The total approximate earnings from goods during 1st April 2014
30th June 2014 were Rs. 24850.37 core compared to Rs.
23214.60 crore during the same period last year, registering an
increase of 7.05 per cent.
The total approximate revenue earnings from passengers during
1st April 2014 30th June 2014 were Rs. 10153.68 crore
compared to Rs. 8724.65 crore during the same period last year,
registering an increase of 16.38 percent.
The approximate revenue earnings from other coaching
amounted to Rs. 1011.35 crore during April 2014 June 2014
compared to Rs. 972.58 crore during the same period last year,
registering an increase of 3.99 per cent.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during 1st
April 2014 30th June 2014 were 2103.35 million compared to
1959.73 million during the same period last year, registering an
increase of 7.33 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban
sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during April 2014 June 2014 were 1222.61 million and 880.74 million compared to
1100.63 million and 859.10 million during the same period last
year, showing an increase of 11.08 per cent and 2.52 per cent
respectively.
