Training Session 2 (60 MINUTES)
Goals
Reemphasize the purpose of Jungle Safarihelping kids discover
who God is, how very much He loves them, and what it means
for their lives.
Give additional training on basic principles of teaching and work-
ing with children.
Preparation
Prepare the room with theme-oriented decorations.
You can use posters from the Site Names Poster Pack and
the Daily Teme Poster Pack and other items from the
Decorating Pack & Guide. Or create decorations using
the Decorating & Publicity CD.
Arrange tables and chairs so that everyone can communi-
cate with one another.
Set up any equipment needed, including a CD player, TV,
and DVD player.
Place handouts on each chair.
Display a theme chart where everyone can see it.

Training Session 2 Begins
Play music from the Music CD as everyone arrives.
WELCOME (5 MINUTES)
Enthusiastically welcome your team and express
appreciation for their attendance.
Sing Our Great God and review the motions. Sing a
couple other songs from the Music CD and teach the
suggested motions.
Give out some VBS gift items, such as a Water Bottle.
Lead in prayer.
THEME REMINDER (10 MINUTES)
Display a theme chart where everyone can see it.
Briefy review each sessions Bible story and daily theme.
Remind the team about the Kids Serving Kids mission
project.
TRAINING BEGINS (20 MINUTES)
Read aloud Matthew 18:1-6. Emphasize the great importance and
privilege of helping children get to know Jesus.
Refer to the handout Maximize Your Event. Highlight the main
points.
Refer to the handout Efective Discipline. Ten refer to Play
It Safe. Ask a childrens ministry leader to briefy go over your
churchs child safety policies. Have available background-check
forms from the services being used. Have your transportation
coordinator share special information that drivers and other team
members need to know. Go over emergency procedures to be
followed in case of fre or inclement weather.
Refer to the Leading Kids to Christ handout. As a group,
memorize the Bible Memory, Psalm 86:9-12. Talk about the im-
portance of being ready to talk to kids about Christ.

Distribute any pertinent information regarding your approach to including
kids with Special Needs and the specifc approach your staf will take during
Jungle Safari.
SMALL GROUPS AND REFRESHMENTS (20 MINUTES)
Let volunteers meet in small groups according to the areas in which theyll be
working.
Distribute the appropriate age characteristics handouts.
Encourage team members to share with each other how they can most
efectively minister to the children in their age groups.
Serve drinks and a theme-related snack as the groups meet.
CLOSING (5 MINUTES)
Assure your team that you will be available after the meeting or at any other
time to answer questions they may have.
Ask the team to say again the Bible Memory from Psalm 86:9-12.
Lead in a prayer of dedication, asking God to help your team as they give their
time and efort to be used of Him in helping children learn how to share His
love as they serve others.
