set aside to cool slightly.
Step 2
Place eggs and sugar in a large bowl and beat with electric beaters for 5 minute
s, or until mixture is pale, thick and doubled in volume. Fold in cooled chocola
te and cocoa powder until combined.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, whip cream until thickened (be careful not to over-beat). Us
e a large metal spoon to carefully fold the cream into the chocolate mixture, tr
ying to keep the mixture as light as possible. Spoon into 6 serving glasses and

Beautiful but way too rich. I only used 240g of Cadbury Dark baking chocolate an

This was the first time I have ever made a chocolate mousse from scratch. I must
say, so easy and I won't be buying packet mousse again. I'm feeling a little si
ck from it being so rich so will try it with milk chocolate next time although i
t wasn't as strong tasting as I was expecting with the dark.

Served this in tall glass with 3layers of 'drunken strawberries'. (strawberries
sliced and marinated in Tia Maria). Decorated top with whipped cream to which i
added good dash of Tia plus dsp drinking chocolate pwd. Another strawberry on to
p and dusting with drinking choc and Yummo... Rich and smooth. Family gave 10 ou

I've made this quite a few times now and it turns out beautifully. I haven't had
the chocolate chip issue. I add the chocolate VERY slowly to begin with (like a
tablespoon at a time) until the melted chocolate and sugary/egg mixture are clo
ser to the same temperature and then I can pretty much pour all the chocolate in
at the same time with no issue. I also mix the choc/egg/ sugar mixture until it
is super thick. I usually add a bit of rosewater and top it with finely chopped
Moroccan roasted cashews. So good! Been forbidden from making this unless for a
special occasion because it's such an extreme destroyer of self control. Anyone
else tried keeping this in the freezer? It makes for a killer icecream, too.

This mousse is delicious. Easily one of the best I have tasted. It is rich and n
ot the typical air light texture that you would say get from a supermarket mouss
e.. but that is one of the reasons i love it so much. Everybody that i make it f
or gives great compliments and always wants the recipe. Small choc chips do form
but i think they make it better! Have made this several times and will continue
to do so!

I've made this countless times now. It's always a hit. I use half dark and milk
choc. I don't mind the chic-chip effect but I've learnt that if you sift the coc
oa slowly, bit by bit into the melted choc once it's cooled a bit and stir until
it dissolves you won't get any crunchy bits. It can be quite rich so just add m
ore whipped cream if you like and then it goes further too. Love it.

We loved it, I added 1/2teaspoon coffee in a little water to the cream. I put th
e cocoa into the cream as well. Plus 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. I cooled the ch
ocolate in cold water in the sink. I added the cream 1T at a time and drizzled t
he chocolate very slowly. Smooth and rich and creamy. No chocolate chips but if
you like them you can add them. The kids broke up a flake over the top to serve
with cream or ice cream. If you love chocolate then just have as is it was perfe
ct.

This wasn't the best recipe I've tried. Mine ended up with the choc-chip effect
so I would recommend cooling the chocolate more than 'slightly' or adding gradua
lly to the egg mixture. The taste was ok but I prefer a more creamy & less rich
taste to my mousse so will probably tweak the recipe a little next time as sugge
sted.

This is quite good however I made a few changes as suggested - I left out the co
coa power and doubled the amount of cream used. I was also worried about ending
up with a 'choc chip' effect so I took the following precautions - I used room t
emperature eggs and allowed the chocolate to cool a fair while before adding to
the egg and sugar mix, I also added the chocolate in small amounts to begin. Ove
rall result was smooth, creamy and very rich but enjoyed by all.

Tips for a quick smooth grain-free mousse: 1. Melt chocolate by microwaving on f
ull power for 2 mins. 2. Add cocoa powder to melted chocolate and stir until smo
oth - allow to cool slightly 3. Don't add alcohol to melted chocolate - wait unt
il it is mixed with egg mixture. (I ruined the first batch of chocolate by addin
g Cointreau at this stage) 4. Dribble the chocolate into the egg mixture as you
fold it in 5. NOW add a little alcohol or water to smooth the mixture - a little
at a time. 6. Whip the cream (soft peaks) and fold into the chocolate mixture 7
. Scoop into the serving dish and leave to set in the fridge.

This should really be named a choc chip mouse (without actually needing to add a
ny choc chips to the recipe!) :P I've made this twice now and both times it has
came out with a choc chip effect which I actually absolutely love! Today's versi
on I did half white chocolate and the other half milk/dark choc. I also added a
few drops of vanilla essence into the white chocolate layer... delicious! It is
a very rich dessert though but that's how a dessert should be so don't start com
plaining about it!!! :P Although to make it less rich if your not too much of a
chocoholic just add an extra 200mls or so of cream. DELICIOUS and pretty easy.

I love this Chocolate Mousse have made it about 4 times. If you don't mix the ch

chips. I did this by accident the first time. The second time I got it really sm
ooth but we decided we actually prefer the chocolate chip version. Best chocolat

Great recipe. i tried a couple of other mousse recipes and this one has been the
best so far. i used cabury dark cooking chocolate, 200gram bar, instead of 300g
stated, used normal cream bottle 300ml and whipped it to thick but not over bea
t! I also let the chocolate COOL slighty but didn't let it set. when adding to t
he egg mixture, i did it in a slow steady stream, while folding in with other ha
nd. it tastes beautiful. kinda like the crofters mousse that you can buy. make a
big bowl full, topped with whipped cream, and flake bar on top. DELICOUS

I've just put the mousse in the fridge and I am really excited. The recipe was e
asy to follow and the flavour and texture is lovely. After reading the comments
I made sure to really let the eggs and sugar beat up, and I melted the chocolate
in a small saucepan so that I could easily pour it into the mixture with one ha
nd and fold it in with the other. Some of the chocolate did set onto the spatula
and some flakes did come off of that but overall the majority of the mousse was
very smooth (and I used choc melts). Really looking forward to the finished res
ult, certainly licking the spoon afterwards it tasted wonderful. 5 stars!

Oh wow. I've never tried making mousse before and this was absolutely delicious!
!!! I had the same problem as some other people in that the chocolate set a litt
le when added to the egg and sugar mix (possibly because I used chocolate melts)
, so ended up with some tiny lumps of chocolate but it didn't take away from the
flavour at all! I also didn't have just dark choc on hand. It ended up being ha
lf quantity of dark and almost the other half in milk with about 10 white choc m
elts to make up the weight quantity. hehe. You couldn't tell though and it was s
till really rich in flavour. I also didn't add the cocoa, but that was because I
didn't have enough in the pantry. I'm not quite sure it needs it though. :D Eve
ryone loved it! I'll definitely be making it again.

This is one of the easiest chocolate mousse recipes. I always double this recipe
using 2 cadbury milk cooking chocolates and one cadbury dark chocolate which i
think is the best combination having tried all the others. I never add the cocoa
cos i dont think it needs it. These mousse cups dont last long in our house. I

YUM! My mousse is setting now, tho it looked pretty set to me when i was filling
it in mini glasses. My only concern is that i let the chocolate set far to long
, so it started to set when i was mixing everything together. So instead of havi
ng a nice smooth consistency its bumpy. But i like it like that anyway, kinda li
ke chocolate chip mousse. Im making this into frog in the ponds, so ill put my j

Good, but too thick and rich. I read all the other comments telling me to reduce
the amount of chocolate and I thought "no way", I thought it might compromise t
he taste of the mousse and my I've always believed there's no such thing as too
much chocolate. Maybe we can say, there wasn't enough of everything else ;). I d

I made it for Christmas dessert and the whole family loved it! I ended up making
two batches because I added double the amount of cream that the recipe calls fo
r initially. So I made a double cream one and the normal one. Both of them turne

you're looking for a less-rich version, add more cream.

Think i'll try without the cocoa when i'm feeling less indulgent.

Oh my goodness, I am in love with this recipe! This is definitely the BEST choco

now, and my family have loved it each time. Strawberries go really well with it

I really do love the good old chocolate on a nice warm evening. This was beautif
ul but to me it was a little to rich. i think the second time i made this i used
half dark and half milk and it made a real differance. i also added some strawb
erries on top and that just made it sweet.

This is delicious and easy. I didn't add the cocoa as I didn't think it would ne

This was the most awesome mousse ever!!! I used dark chocolate with raspberries
pieces and it added an extra flavour hit. You defiantly need a bit of the whippe
d cream on top as it makes it taste just a little less sweet. Mind you this reci
pe was not "in minutes" it probably took me about 20mins

I would not make this again. Whilst it was very easy and nice enough, the chocol
ate sets when added giving it a choc chip effect instead of a smooth one. As a r
esult you need to mix it through more than you should which then collapses the e
gg and further alters the texture. I would advise not allowing the chocolate to
cool at all to try and get more of a mousse. It was a nice desert, but not my id
ea of a mousse at all.

I've now made this three times in the last 10 days. Kids and hubby can't get eno

10). Took suggestion of doubling the cream on board and it was not as sweet and
rich - the perfect combo. AA++

This is so good it should be illegal! I made it for hubby & me as a weekend trea
t. I used Lindt 70% cocoa but only used 180gms. I also added a tablespoon of Gra
nd Marnier liquor to the cream when I whipped it. Everything else I kept the sam
e. It is still super rich but not overly sweet because of the high cocoa content
. I served it with berries which cut through the richness a bit. It will definit
ely be on the menu the next time friends come for dinner!

Delicious choc mousse. I'm usually not a fan but I am now!. Made it for family b
bq and was very popular. I used just 200g 70% lindt dark chocolate (2 x 100g pac
kets) and that was plenty, to 300g of cream. I think that was perfect.

I made it again and this time not quite so fabulous. Delicious yes but the consi
stency wasn't quite 100% of first effort. So two tips I have learned: the chocol
ate should cool but not too much! Otherwise starts to solidify and won't mix in
as well. Secondly I whipped the cream to perfection last time but this time slig
htly underwhipped it I think. We'll see once set. I love this recipe, am totally
bringing it to every single bbq!!.

and ice cream (didn't have any cream left over). I ended up with the little bits

I REALLY liked this mousse! It was delicious and i will be making it again and a
gain and again. Mine set fine. After reading the reviews i made the followingcha
nges: I used a little less chocolate (half milk half dar), I used a little less
sugar and i beat the eggs & sugar till they were super fluffy and the cream till
it would hold in the bowl if you turn it upside down. Mine also made little fle
ks of solid chocolate all through the mousse which i think makes it super yummy.
This was just so little effort for such a great result that i will be making it
heaps and heaps! I do recommend you try this! It took me about 10 minutes to ma
ke and i refridgerated it for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Me and my partner are chocolate addicts, but this mousse was far too sweet for o

*WOW* This is truly a mouthwatering dessert, though worth doubling up of ingredi

ender/mixer, pays to really beat the eggs and sugar to get them extra fluffy bef
ore folding with other ingreds. Sift the cocoa powder and add to the melted choc
olate. I used Cadbury Dairy Milk which was delish! Once mousse is set, top with
Canned Whipped Cream and sprinkle with grated Crunchie Bar... oh la lah, to die
