The purpose of this document is to describe the structure and the contents of an Interference Matrix. 1.1 NetAct compatibility and capacity information For information on NetAct system and capacity, and the compatibility between NetAct and network element releases, see the NetAct Compatibility and Capacity Information document. 1.2 Terms The following table lists the abbreviations specific for this document. 7 Interference Matrix Open Interface Overview of Interference Matrix open interface Id:0900d80580503774 2 Overview of Interference Matrix open inter- face Interference Matrix is used in frequency allocation and in automated adjacency optimi- zation as well as in visualization and analysis. With the Interference Matrix open inter- face you can export an Interference Matrix from Optimizer to an external system in CSV format. It is also possible to import Interference Matrices from external systems to Opti- mizer. Interference Matrix is stored in the Optimizer database. When it is exported, it is saved into a file whose name and location can be specified. With the import functionality the users own interference matrix is loaded to the database. The main advantages of the interface are: Exported Interference Matrix can be used with any tool that accepts CSV format. You can export accumulated Interference Matrix data to store it, because it may be difficult to store large amounts of data in the Optimizer database. Imported Interference Matrix can be used when measurements are insufficient to enable accurate Interference Matrix creation. 8 DN0196626 Interference Matrix Open Interface Id:0900d80580503774 Interference Matrix open interface in CSV file format 3 Interference Matrix open interface in CSV file format You can open an Interference Matrix file in CSV format, for example, with a spreadsheet program. The opened file has the following column headings: TO LABEL=s TO BTS OI=s TO BSC OI=s TO LAC=l TO CI=l FROM LABEL=s FROM BTS OI=s FROM BSC OI=s FROM LAC=l FROM CI=l CO=d ADJ=d RELIABILITY=d SAMPLES=l TRAFFIC=l BLINDSPOT=s TYPE=s These column headings are described in more detail in the sections of this chapter. 3.1 Network element identification In the exported file, identification information is based on BTS label (free text), BTS Object Instance (OI) ID (integer), BSC Object Instance ID (integer), Local Area Code (LAC), and Cell Identification (CI). The corresponding information is shown under the following columns of the exported file (TO in the heading means that the object is inter- fered, FROM that the object is interfering): TO LABEL=s TO BTS OI=s TO BSC OI=s TO LAC=l TO CI=l FROM LABEL=s FROM BTS OI=s FROM BSC OI=s FROM LAC=l FROM CI=l For the import file, use Object Instance IDs for identification if they are available. Other- wise, use a LAC-CI pair for identification. DN0196626
9 Interference Matrix Open Interface Interference Matrix open interface in CSV file format Id:0900d80580503774 3.2 Interference Matrix support for external interference External interferers may appear in both imported and exported CSV files. External inter- ferers are indicated by using special text in the BTS label field: EXT <bcch>:<bcc>:<ncc>. EXT 700:3:4 Figure 1 Example of external interference file This special text should appear only in interfering BTSs; never in interfered BTSs. The BTS and BSC OI ID, LAC, and CI fields are ignored in the case of external interferers. TO_LABEL=s,TO_BTS_OI=S,TO_BSC_OI=S,TO_LAC=l,TO_CI=l,FROM_LABEL=s,FROM_BTS_OI=S, FROM_BSC_OI=S,FROM:LAC=l,FROM_CI=l,CO=d,ADJ=d,RELIABILITY=d,SAMPLES=l,TRAFFIC=l,BLINDSPOT=s,TYPE=s BTS-8,8,2001,1,9,BTS-26,26,2001,1,27,2.54,0.44,76.00,5575,0,N,M BTS-8,8,2001,1,9,EXT 701:4:7,,,,,4.70,0.83,76.00,10325,0,N,M Figure 2 Example file showing both network and external interference 3.3 Data values The interference type is selected in the Optimizer user interface. Carrier over Interferer Probability (CIP) is a probability of a random call experiencing interference that exceeds a given threshold. The interval is [0.01,100.0] and unit per- centage (%). The Average Received Power (ARP) is a measurement for interference or overlap between any two cells. It is simply the relative rx level measured from one cell by mobiles served by another cell. ARP is represented as floating point numbers with four number accuracy (two decimals). The interval is [0.0,63.0] and unit RXLEV. Frame Erasure Probability (FEP) is an estimated probability for a speech frame to be erased. FEP is represented as a probability factor having floating point numbers with four number accuracy (two decimals). The interval is [0.01,100.0] and unit percentage (%). The chosen interference types values for the co-channel is shown in the CSV file under the column heading CO=d and for the adjacent channel under the column heading ADJ=d. 3.4 Additional information The reliability of a measured interference probability for an interfering BTS - interfered BTS pair is shown under the column heading RELIABILITY=d. The unit value is percent- age (%). This value is also meaningful if a reliability value of a measured interference is imported. For predicted interference, a value of 0.7 is shown to make it comparable. The higher the number of measurement samples, the more reliable the reliability value is. Also, the amount of traffic affects the reliability of the reliability value. The number of mobile measurement reports received by the interfered BTS is shown under the column heading SAMPLES=l. The amount of the interfered BTS's traffic is shown under the column heading TRAF- FIC=l. 10 DN0196626 Interference Matrix Open Interface Id:0900d80580503774 Interference Matrix open interface in CSV file format The BLINDSPOT=s column shows 'Y' if there are blind spots and 'N' if there are no blind spots. The TYPE=s column shows one of the following values for an interfering BTS - inter- fered BTS pair: 'P' for predicted interference 'M' for measured interference 'I' for imported interference DN0196626
