Home Connection: You can discuss with the children some of your routines and systems at home and

ask
them to share it with the class during our morning circle time. You can help your child count items in
their room or at home and may be help them count as high as they can on their way to school. Practice
writing their names or even just recognizing it written for them. Talk to them about being good thinkers
and how smart they have become! Thank you for all your support and hard work with the children :)

Literacy Inquiry:
We will be reading some great books: Cliffords time for school , Cliffords tummy trouble ,
Make new friends and Cliffords show and tell. This week we will be focusing on name recogni-
tion, tracing and writing. The children will be doing many name activities like name puzzles, writ-
ing names on white boards, tracing names and many more activities .
We will also be introducing how to use glue sticks and scissors in many different activities.
Math Inquiry:
In math the children will continue working on counting using manipulatives and one to one corre-
spondence .We will be doing a How many letters in your name graph. The children will also be
introduced to sorting items in groups, all within fun activities like marshmallow counting and sort-
ing marshmallows into color groups.
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a restful weekend. This Monday we have our Back to school night. I hope to see
you all and enjoy a nice evening together at school. Below are the things we will be doing this week.

Learner Profile: We will be talking about being Thinkers and reading about it giving examples for the chil-
dren to encourage them to become good thinkers.
How We Organize Ourselves Central Idea: Systems help us live and learn together.
Activities include : Demonstrating good Manners at School, discussing our systems at home and at school
for example What is our system for lining up? What is our system for dismissal at the end of the day?,etc.
