The company CEO calls to check on all delayed sales orders, and see what can
be done so the company can meet the numbers for this quarter which ends in
few days.
As an Order Fulfillment Manager or Warehouse Manager, it is important to
understand any fulfillment delays and why the delays are occurring. These
delays can be caused by a number of factors, such as, supplier or
manufacturing delays, warehouse capacity or shipping issues.
Using Endeca for Sales Orders, we can drill into the highest number of
fulfillment days, and the manager can determine that a very large order for a
high priority customer, Department of Defense, is delayed. Manufacturing needs
to fulfill this order.

We start by filtering by order date
We further filter by fulfillment
delays of a range of days
We then sort by Order Amount to view
the highest value orders first
By clicking on the order number
we can drill to the order details
Here we see the customer and item and ask manufacturing
to make sure it ships on time
Hearing from sales that an order for a key customer is critical to making our
goal, using Endeca for Discrete Manufacturing we quickly search for that
customer's work order and see that it has a component shortage that could
cause a delay.
Using Endeca Product Master we can compare the component and it's
substitutes and see we have availability of one of the substitutes. We can issue
the substitute and deliver the product on time.
We can now inform the CEO that this larger Order will be fulfilled so we can
meet the numbers for this quarter.
Manufacturing and Inventory Demo
We come to the Endeca Discrete Work Order Search and
type the customer name (Department of Defense) into the
search region.
Since the tag cloud indicates a component shortage we check the
shortage tab of the Work Order Overview region and see were short the
CM13139 but an approved substitute has been defined. Now we want to
check the availability.
From our Favorites list we navigate to the
Endeca Item Search
Here we quickly reduce the search results by
narrowing our search to 80GB drives, the component
were short
Three items meet our search criteria, we select
them all and click compare
Making the original component our baseline we highlight the differences
and we can see we have plenty of the substitute item available
From our Favorites list we navigate back to the Endeca Discrete
Work Order Search
We highlight the operation tab and click the View Work Content
link in order to launch our Discrete MES Workstation
From the MES Workstation we click the Update
Exceptions action
We send a message to the operator telling him to use the
substitute component and resolve the exception
