Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna is poised to establish a world-class centre for teaching and research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. This Centre will be interdisciplinary in nature, and include faculty from different science and relevant engineering disciplines. Applicants having Ph.D. Degree in one of these disciplines with appropriate research/teaching experience will be given preference. Besides, they must have published research work in SCI journals.
The AKU has openings for faculty and technical staffs' positions at the level of Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Senior Technical Assistant, Technical Assistant and Lab. Assistant on contract basis with their background as indicated against each post. The essential qualifications/scales of pay for these positions will be as per the UGC guidelines. The terms and conditions with regard to the minimum qualifications and other terms and conditions as prescribed in the UGC Regulations ON MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS AND OTHER ACADEMIC STAFF IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AND MEASURES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF STANDARDS IN HIGHER EDUCATION and amended from time to time, shall be followed.
II. The applications received shall be screened in accordance with the need laid down by the Aryabhatta Centre for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Patna. In this regard to restrict, the number of candidate.
The minimum qualifications required for the post of Associate Professor, Assistant Professor are as under:

(i) ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
a) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
b) A Masters Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
c) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
d) Contribution to educational/research innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students, as evidenced by Ph.D. thesis /co-authored books/publications in peer reviewed journals.
e) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS).
(ii) ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
a) Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
b) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR.
c) Notwithstanding anything contained in (ii) above candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission Regulations, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET.
d) NET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET is not conducted.
III. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders, who have passed their Masters degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
IV. Relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed by a recognized university shall also be considered eligible.
Desirable Qualifications:
Candidates who have demonstrated outstanding track record in terms of research preferably in the area of nanoscience and nanotechnology (duly supported by publications, novel product and/or 4
protocol development any other research activity). Preference will be given to the incumbent who is capable to teach different aspects/subjects of Nanobiotechnology.
University may relax the eligibility criteria for the candidates who are having consistently outstanding track records in the area of Nanoscience & Technology.
Selection criteria:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Application form duly filled in all respect by the candidate must be supported by attested copies of all certificates, Mark Sheets, evidence of teaching, research experience and production of M.Sc./M.Phil/Ph.D./NET certificates, copies of reprints of published articles, certificate containing the record of date of birth, etc.
2. Incomplete application form without signature of candidate or without the prescribed fee shall summarily be rejected.
3. The University reserves the right to: (i) draw panel(s) for future appointment(s) in the event of occurrence of a vacancy caused by non-joining of candidate(s) within the stipulated time or where a candidate joins but resigns or dies within a period of a year from the date of joining; (ii) Consider the applications received after the last date; but eligibility will be determined as on the last date of submission of application. (iii) Not to fill up any of the advertised positions.
4. Qualifications and other conditions applicable are subject to UGC regulations as amended from time to time.
5. The period of time spent by the candidates to acquire M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. Degree shall not be considered as research experience.
6. Relaxation in educational qualifications, experience, age, etc. to the reserved category candidates will be permissible as per Government rules.
7. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category must submit appropriate certificates issued by the competent authority recently. In the case of OBC reservations, certificate should be issued from 5
competent authority particularly with reference to Non-creamy layer. Those who fail to submit the required certificate(s) will be treated as General Category, subject to fulfillment of other terms & conditions.
8. The candidates applying under PWD Category are required to submit the Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority in the format prescribed by Government of India for this purpose.
9. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates, the University, at its discretion, may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications/experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
10. Post number and post applied for should be clearly indicated on the application form.
11. Separate Application Form/Bio-Data Form is required to be filled up for each post.
12. Those already in Government service/Autonomous Institute/Semi-Autonomous should forward their application through proper channel.
13. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the minimum essential qualifications as well as the desirable qualifications and attach evidence thereon.
14. The eligibility of the candidates will be determined on the basis of qualifications acquired by them up to the last date fixed for receipt of applications.
15. The University reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate(s) at any stage in case of any in advertent mistake in the process of selection may be detected even after issue of appointment letter.
16. The University shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by a candidate at any time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidate has undesirable clandestine/antecedents and has suppressed the said information, then his service shall be terminated.
