ABSTRACT
The objective of this research Is to improve speaking skill through audio visual aid, especially ho
w far the improving speaking skill through audio visual aid in Junior High School of Darul Ishla
h Jayanti at third grade. The researcher hopes this research may given the useful for himself, teac
hers, schools, and all people.
The field of this research is Junior High School (SMP) of Darul Ishlah. It is located on Jl. Raya S
erang Km. 35 Jayanti Tangerang-
Banten. The researcher has observed for two semester. He has taken the research at the school si
nce Juni 2011.
The research method is qualitative, the classroom action research. This research uses three cycle,
and each cycle consists of four steps. These steps are planning, watching video or film, observin
g and reflecting.
The subject in this research is all of the students in SMP Darul Ishlah Jayanti, but the researcher
chooses one class for classroom action research. He chooses the third grade. It consists of fourty
students. They taught by using audio visual aid for improving their speaking skill. This research r
uns one month and divided into three cycles. In each cycle, the researcher makes lesson plan, acti
on, observation, and reflection for knowing how far the progress of students speaking skill after
the audio visual aid applied. And also the researcher observes in field research directly in order g
et the result accurately.
From the research result, it got the learning target of students in cycle one is 55%, then in cycle t
wo the learning target increased becoming 65%, in the last cycle the learning target increased aga
in becoming 75%. Based on the result above showed that audio visual aid can improve the stude
nts speaking skill, its known from the learning target in each cycle that continuously increased.
So, the researcher takes conclusion that audio visual aid can improve the students speaking skill
if used in teaching learning process.
