John 15:5

Did you know that

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man
remains in me and I in him, he will bear much
fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5
 Have you felt lost?
Depressed?
Burned-out?
Fed up? Tired?

 It’s most probably because

you lack nutrition –
nutrition and refuelling that
comes from the Vine.
Remain in the Vine. REMAIN IN CHRIST!
John 15:5
John 10:10; Jeremiah 29:11
John 15:8 “This is to my Father's
glory, that you bear much fruit,
showing yourselves to be my
disciples.” (NIV)
It is the destiny of
every believer.
 John 15:16
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and
appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will
last.” (NIV)
Inner fruit:
fruit: Christ-like quality; Outer fruit: Whatever you do for
Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) God that would glorify Him.

NO FRUIT
John 15:2
“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit ” (NIV)
 Not a literal translation.
Greek word αἴρω (airō) = “to raise up, elevate,
lift up”
Are you like the first branch?
Christians who, for a long time, bear no fruit because
they harbour “dirt” and “mud” in their hearts.
 He takes up the
unproductive branch and
cleans them up
(discipline).
 His purpose is to cleanse
you and free you from sin
so you can be more
abundant for his glory.
 REPENTANCE

◦ not a one-time act but a

lifestyle.
◦ An ongoing commitment to
keep putting aside one’s
rebellion and receive God’s
forgiveness.
SOME FRUIT
John 15:2
“>every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more
fruitful ” (NIV)
 Pruning – to thin, to
reduce, to cut off
 This is God’s strategy to
coax a greater harvest
out of his branches.
 His purpose is to cut
away immature
commitments and lesser
priorities to make room
for even greater
abundance for his glory.
Without pruning, Christians will only be able
to live up to a fraction of their potential.
potential.
The people you love most: God may be
inviting you to follow Christ even without the
support of your closest family members.
Your right to know why God does what He
does:
a test of faith and obedience.
Money and possessions: Ask yourself: How
much of what’s mine has God already asked
for? Have I given it to him?
 Sources of your significance: Achievements,
status, ministries, affirmations, etc.
 RELEASE

◦ Give God your

permission and you
will start reaping a
bountiful harvest!
MUCH FRUIT
John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and
I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (NIV)
The challenge is to
find the balance
balance!!
Are you ready to make
the wisest choice you
can make for 2010?
1. Set apart the kind of time that will build relationship.
2. Savor God’s word to you. (Colossians 3:16 “Let the
word of Christ dwell in you richly...”)
3. Talk and listen to a Person.
4. Keep a daily written record of what God is doing in
your life (a spiritual journal, not a diary of your day nor
an attempt at literature!).
1. Give God your waking thoughts.
2. Give God your waiting thoughts.
3. Give God your whispering thoughts.
4. Give God your waning thoughts.
