Emerging Trends in EMS/Nursing

- Rick Howard Battalion Chief, RN, BS, EMT-ANAKED AND AFRAID-Dont be afraid of an EKG
NAKED AND AFRAID is how most nurses feel when they are presented with the possibility of having
to read an EKG. Nobody should feel naked or be afraid of reading an EKG. Almost all EMS
agencies are sending 12-leads to the hospital to alert a STEMI and almost ALL of these 12-leads are
seen by the nurse first and remember time is heart muscle. After this class, you will feel warm,
clothed, and well prepared to receive those EKGS that are coming. I use a proven technique to read
EKGs rapidly and precisely, the first time, every time.
