Grey Goo apocalypse! Science fiction turned reality?

After an attack by radical, environmental terrorist group GAIA at Dr Gooeys laboratory on the 20th of
July, the world has shifted gear into the fast track with the finish line resembling more and more as
that of a Grey Goo apocalyptic scenario. The controversial nanobots invented by Dr Gooey have
gone rogue and have been aggressively replicating every single carbon atom encountered, into grey
goo. In less than a day after the attack, both the continents of North and South America have been
destroyed. Latest reports indicate that the grey goo is quickly spreading towards Europe.
Dr Gooeys controversial invention had resulted in widespread uproar and public protests all around
the world, however he revealed that there was never any suspicion that the hate notes he had
received were actual threats made by a terrorist organisation. According to Dr Gooey, the threats he
received had been becoming increasingly hostile, ultimately culminating in an assassination attempt
on Dr Gooeys life a few days back where his car was shot at multiple times. As he recounted on the
phone interview, Dr Gooey managed to escape the shooting with minimal injury as his security detail
managed to hold the terrorists off.
GAIA attacked Dr Gooey and his assistants at his laboratory couple of days ago. This was on the eve
of the commercial release of the much debated nanobot technology. Security forces arrived only
after the terrorists had fled. In their preliminary report, investigators stated that the terrorists
infected his nanobots with an unidentified virus with an intention to destroy them. However, the
virus employed resulted in malfunction and inflicted damage to the limits programming units in the
nanobots instead of destroying them. This caused them to replicate endlessly which made the much
feared, famous science fiction apocalyptic scenario of a grey goo that consumes the world, into
reality.
Dr Gooey revealed that he had created a fail-safe prototype, a substance known as green slime
which serves to shut down the nanobots immediately should any emergencies occur. however, the
green slime was stolen by the terrorists during their attack and the formula was lost leaving nothing
to stop the grey goo with.
Yesterday , Dr Gooey released the following statement to the public:
I cant even stop it as much as I want to. All my research is lost and my green slime prototypes are
stolen! I cant even contain one of the infected nanobots safely to study the programming to figure
out how to destroy it. All is gone. This world is gone. Im sorry. I have been a colossal dick.
With the grey goo nanobots almost entirely out of control and prototypes for the only fail-safe lost,
we are forced to question one of the most frightening question mankind has ever asked, Is this truly
the end of mankind?.
