From the early days of North Sea oil exploration Jotun has
worked with the Oil & Gas industry, building a reputation
for state-of-the-art coatings and for working in partnership
with both contractors and operators. Jotun provides
solutions to the lasting protection of structures with a
design life of up to 30 years or more that are complicated
and expensive to maintain.
These include systems prequalified to NORSOK M-501
and system combinations
which include water-borne
coatings with performance
so good, on both blast
cleaned and water jetted
surfaces, that they are an
attractive alternative to
solvent-borne coatings.

A coating remaining flexible over time is almost free from internal stress
and will not crack or lose adhesion when exposed to mechanical impact
or changes in temperature.
The graph illustrates the results of tests of the flexibility in the paint film
of Jotacote PSO and three other polysiloxane products. Continual high
figures mean flexible coating. Decreasing figures mean increasing
brittleness.
Conclusion: The results show that Jotacote PSO retains its flexibility whilst
the other products turn brittle.
