The seventh studio album by The Byrds, recorded after the departure of guitarrist Gram Parsons

saying that it was “first-rate Byrds, a high recommendation”. Gram and Kevin were respectevely
substituted by Clarence White – who had played as a studio musician on Younger Than Yesterday,
The Notorious Byrd Brothers and Sweetheart of the Rodeo – and Gene Parsons (no relation to

In order to catch up with the posts, we’ll be dropping some of the usual information. / Para
cobrir o atraso dos posts, dispensaremos algumas das informações de costume.
Recordings originally made in binaural – a method which uses a special microphone arrangement
intended for simulating the natural process of listening, in which the listenner knows where the
sound comes from. In the end of the 80’s, during the process to of digitalising Elvis’ catalog,
forgoten binaural recordings from 1957 were found, and now they surface on this album. /
Gravações originalmente feitas em binaural – método que utiliza um arranjo especial dos
microfones a fim de simular o som ambiente, ou o processo de audição natural, no qual o ouvinte
sabe de onde o som vem. No final dos anos 80, durante o processo de digitalização do catálogo de
Elvis, gravações esquecidas em binalram de 1957 foram encontradas, aparecendo agora neste
álbum.

Forever Changes was the third album by Love and the first to be produced by the band’s frontman
Arthur Lee, with assistance from Bruce Botnick. It was originally to be produced by Neil Young and
Botnick, but Young had to quit the project due to commitments with Buffalo Springfield. According
to the liner notes of the Love Story compilation, however, he actually stayed long enough to
arrange “The Daily Planet”. For the recording of this album, must of the band’s line-up was
replaced by studio musicians, allegely because of a certain inability the group had to function in
the studio. After some time, however, the remaining Lee and Maclean realized that the use of
other musicians was getting into the style of the band, so they came back to work with the other
members of the group. The album sold poorly and would be recognized as a masterpiece only a
long time after the band’s breakup, reaching #40 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Best Albums Of All Time
list and #6 on the British NME’s equivalent. / Forever Changes foi o terceiro álbum lançado por

Considered one of the “must hear” albums of the 60’s, Surrealistic Pilow was the second album by
that which was considered the best line-up of Jefferson Airplane. Grace Slick had just joined the
band as lead vocalist, as well as Spencer Dryden, who succeeded drummer Alexander ‘Skip’
Spence. The release of Surrealistic Pillow announced what would become the prolific musical
scene of San Francisco. Originally released by RCA Victor, LPM/LSP 3766, Surrealistic Pillow
reached number 3 on Billboard’s Pop Albums chart, driven by singles White Rabbit and Somebody
to Love, which got to #8 and #5 respectively on Billboard Hot 100. It was mixed in both mono and
stereo. The two versions were made available on a rare RCA Gold CD reissue of November 2001
and then on the Ignition box set. Collectors use to prefer the mono version, for it has less echo

Rough cut of a Beatles’ recording session during the Get back / Let It Be project in which Linda
accompanied Paul with daughter Heather. The girl danced and messed around in the studio
while “the boys” made a pretty damn good sound together with Billy Preston. Although the
intromissions made by the voice of the cameraman may be a little annoying, the album has an
interesting selection, especially All Things Must Pass – in which Paul works on the vocals and bass
lines of what would be a Beatles’ song, but ended up as a solo George Harrison track. The medley
Take This Hammer is also a good moment, with the Beatles just enjoying themselves with some
acoustic layed down tunes. What is also unique in this boot is it’s sound quality – we have a great
quantity of bootlegs from the Get Back era, but much of them have poor sound quality. / Amostra

Johnny Burnette Trio – Rockbilly Boogie

Formed in Memphis in the 50's by Golden Gloves champions Johnny Burnette, Dorsey Burnette and
Paul Burlison, The Rock'n'Roll Trio began playing in hillbilly nightclubs a mix of country and
bluegrass. Johnny sang the lead vocal and played rhythm guitar, while Burlison played lead guitar
and Dorsey played stand-up bass. The band had it's first recording session at the Von Theater, in
Boonville, and released as debut single the pair You're Undecided and Go Mule Go. The release
date has raised some controversy, with the Guinness Book Of Rock Stars saying it was 1953, while
some sources suggest 1954 and others, 1955. The trio supposedly auditioned for Sun Records, but
was turned down by Sam Phillips, apparently for sounding too much like Elvis. / Formado em

After some gigs in Middleton, Tennessee and unregular side jobs, the group decided to move to
New York in the hope of gaining jobs through the electrician's union. After an audition, influenced
by Elvis' success, Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour gave the trio an appearance, and after that they
made three more straight appearances in April and May 1956. Between the first and third
appearances, the group was seen by Bill Randle, a top rated disc-jokey on WERE, Cleveland.
Randle phoned a friend, Henry Jerome, who was a band leader at the Hotel Edison. After watching
them, Jerome got impressed and signed the group for a managemente contract, after which he
secured a contract for them at Coral Records, a division of Decca. / Depois de uma temporada em

Homonymous debut album by Bob Dylan, at the time 20 years old. Bob got the chance when he
met John Hammond, legendary Columbia producer, at a rehearsal for Carolyn Hester, on
September 14 1961. Dylan signed the contract on September 26 after a concert at Garde's Folk
City (for wich he had began a two-week run) and then playing harmonica at Hester's recording
session at Columbia's Manhattan studios. Of the album's 13 tracks, two are original songs by Bob -
Talkin' New York and Song To Woody. The record didn't gain much notice and is considered by
Dylan a poor debut. What is curious is that the cover is a flipped photography (take a good look at
the guitar's strings); flip it back and you'll get someone who looks more like young Dylan. / Estreia
homônima de Bob Dylan, lançada quando ele tinha 20 anos de idade. Bob conseguiu a chance
quando conheceu John Hammond, produtor lendário da Columbia, num ensaio para Carolyn
Hester, a 14 de setembro de 1964. Dylan assinou o contrato no dia 26 de setembro depois de um

Eddie's lifetime. Ballads like Little Angel and Love Again, for their turn, call attention to Eddie's

Rockabilly singer, guitar player and songwriter, Eddie Cochran is a Rock'n'Roll legend, although not
so as people like artists such as Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. Eddie's career started around 1950,
and he made his first recordings in 1955 with Hank Cochran. Hank was not his brother, but, due to
the fact that both had the same surname, they recorded as "The Cochran Brothers". It was in 1956,
however, that Cochran got his big chance: he was recording guitar pieces for low-budget movies
when Boris Petroff asked him if he would like to appear in a music film a friend of his was
directing - that would be the major rock'n'roll cinema success The Girl Can't Help It, and gave
Cochran's first hit: Twenty Flight Rock; this would also be the song that made John Lennon admit
Paul McCartney as a member of his band, The Quarrymen; but this is another story.
Cochran was also a studio inovator, having made great experiences with overdubbing - notably on
his hit Summertime Blues, which is marked by a thick guitar sound.
This is the first and last album released in Cochran's brief lifetime. It's openning track, Sittin' In
The Balcony, was Eddie's first Top 40 hit. Most of the songs presented here, however, are ballads -
one of my favourites being Undying Love.
In 1960, after a tour with Gene Vincent through U.K., Eddie had a car crash involving also Gene
and Eddie's girlfriend, Sharon Sheeley - a musicwriter. Gene and Sharon survived. Eddie died the
day after de accident; he was 21 years old.

America is the 1971 homonymous debut by America. It reached number 1 on the US charts, 14 in
UK and 22 in Norway. It was actually first released without the track A Horse With No Name, which
hadn't been recorded yet. When the song was released as a single and became a worldwide hit in
1972, the album was re-released with it. Besides A Horse With No Name, America had another hit
with I Need You, which was number 9 on Billboard. / America é o álbum homônimo de estreia de
1971 do America. Ele chegou à 1ª posição nas paradas americanas, à 4ª na Inglaterra e à 22ª na
Noruega. Na verdade, ele inicialmente foi lançado sem a faixa A Horse With No Name, que não

Box set compiled and co-produced by Yoko Ono, who devided some of John's solo career home
demos, studio outtakes and other unreleased recordings in four CDs, each representing a phase in
his life: Ascot (the house in Tittenhurst where he lived with Yoko from 1969 to 1971), New York
City (the time of their move to New York, when John composed a bunch of protest songs that were
released in Some Time in New York City), The Lost Weekend (actually a 18 months period John
spent apart from Yoko and with a new girlfriend, May Pang) and Dakota (the last years of his life,
spent in the famous Dakota building). / Box set compilado e co-produzido por Yoko Ono, que

Fifth album by The Ramones, produced by Phil Spector, what resulted in a change in their style: as
an attempt to enter the Top 40 and reach mainstream acceptance, it’s songs are more “produced”
and have a longer duration. End Of The Century reached number 44 on Billboard 200 and number
14 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band’s highest charting album in both countries. The
band members, specially Dee Dee Ramone, however, claimed the collaboration with Spector was a
real nightmare. According to Dee Dee, the producer used methods such as making Johnny play the
opening chord of Rock’n’Roll High School hundreds of times and even holding them hostage at
gunpoint. Besides, Dee Dee later said he didn’t like the album, telling in an Interview that “some
of the worst crap I’ve ever wrote went on that album”. / Quinto álbum dos Ramones, produzido
