Associate Teachers
We would like to welcome two associate teachers from the University of Chester Miss Laura Blayney and
Miss Bethan Barker who will be working in the Goldfinches and Hummingbirds classes from now until
February. We are pleased to have them with us and they have both written blog entries on the class
homepages introducing themselves.
NSPCC Fundraising
Did you see the NSPCC letter that came out this week along with a sponsor
form? Please help us in raising funds for the NSPCC. The sponsored
challenges will take place on Wednesday 12 November.
Children in Need
The annual BBC Children in Need day takes place on Friday
14 November. As always the children are very keen to mark
this in school so we will be holding a Dress as a Superhero
day where all children are invited to come to school dressed
as a hero. This could be a super hero, or just a particular
hero of your child. We are also suggesting a voluntary
donation of 1 per family which will go towards Children In Need.
Thank you for your support for both of these charity events. We firmly believe at St Oswalds that it is
important for the children to develop a sense of care and compassion towards those less fortunate than
them.
Bag2School Collection
The next collection will be on Tuesday 11th November. Your child should now have brought home their
Bags2School bag. Fill your bags with your unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, ties, belts, hats and soft toys
and bring them into school on that day. Please support if you can as it is a great way to have a sort
out and help raise funds for the PTA. The last 2 collections combined have raised over 500 for the
PTA. Please note that Bag2school no longer accept bedding, cushions, curtains, towels, school uniform or
textile remnants.
Parents Evening
Parents Evenings will take place on Monday 24 and Wednesday 26
November in school and will take the form of a traditional parents
evening with individual appointments for parents. We will be using a
new online booking system for parents evening. This takes the form
of an online google spreadsheet. This will be accessed from the school
website (you wont be able to find it just yet). Im just giving
parents a heads up now as our trials have indicated that it is best
accessed from a computer, not a tablet. Further details will be sent
out next week with clear instructions for you.

Please place all orders by 10th November to get your items delivered to the school free of charge.
The PTA will earn 20% commission from all orders placed, so this is a great way to help the PTA, and
get some unique Christmas Cards to your friends and family!
Christmas Dates
Please check the calendar on the school website for all the Christmas dates for your diary.
Curriculum Vision
Part of our school development plan for this year is to develop our school curriculum. As part of this
process school staff have worked together to write a vision for our school curriculum which I am pleased
to share with you now. Over the course of the year school staff will be working hard to develop the
curriculum at St Oswalds and you will see the fruits of this work starting in September 2015.
Football Coaching
The Wrens, Sparrows & Goldfinches will be starting Tesco skills football sessions on Tuesdays with Coach
Rob Oakley. The sessions will run up until Christmas and your child will need to bring the following things
with them each Tuesday: Football boots (if they have them), outdoor or old trainers and a warm coat.
