Sunflowers in the alley

Judges, Please!

In an effort to help brighten up a shoddy-looking alley in downtown Glasgow, Mariah

Holter used her artistic abilities to paint some dazzling, bright yellow sunflowers on
the back door of a business. It even helps the delivery guys find the right place!

Non-profit organizations urged to apply

now for Theo & Ayce Beck Trust Grants

Grant applications are now being accepted for
nonprofit 501c3 organizations and governmental entities
such as schools and municipalities for projects that
promote better living in Valley County, from the Theo and
Alyce Beck Foundation Trust.
Applications may be picked up from Ruth Ann
Hutcheson, 12 1st Avenue North, or Edward Jones, 207 5th
Street South. Applications must be mailed and postmarked
no later than Sunday, November 30, 2014. Incomplete
applications will not be considered for grants.
The Theo and Alyce Beck Foundation Trust was
established with the mission of bettering life in Valley
County. It creates income for higher education and to help
fund projects that promote better living in Valley County
through non-profit organizations.

Theo and Alyce Beck were northeast Montana people
who cared about the communities they lived in, whether
it was Baylor, where their lives began, Opheim where they
farmed, or Glasgow, where Alyce spent her retired years
after Theo died.
Shortly before Alyce died, she generously decided
to set up the Theo and Alyce Beck Foundation Trust. This
will be the sixth year that the trust will award grants.

Heads Held High

The game was over, Conrad escaped with a 32-27 victory and tears were shed. But our Scotty
Chearleaders just as the entire Scotty team did were able to hold their heads
high despite the upset. It was a fantastic job by these young ladies cheering their team
on all season long. From left are Karissa Liebelt, Lily Helland, Breanna Barstad, Tayte
Prewett, McKenna Gagne, and DesRae Dible. Says Breanna of the Cowboys, They
are really nice and I hope they beat Townsend on Saturday.
In other Scotty news: Glasgow Boys Basketball Head Coach Norm Braaten announces a
meeting for all parents of prospective players this year in grades 9-12. The meeting is Tuesday,
November 18th at 6:30 p.m. in Room 1 at GHS. For more information contact Coach Braaten at

GLASGOW CIVIC CENTER

A friend and I were standing in line at a fast-food
restaurant, waiting to place our order. There was a big sign
posted. No bills larger than $20 will be accepted. The woman
in front of us, pointing to the sign, remarked, Believe me, if
I HAD a bill larger than $20, I wouldnt be eating here.

A young farm couple, Homer and Darlene, got married
and just couldnt seem to get enough lovin. In the morning,
before Homer left the house for the fields, they were in the
mood. When Homer came back from the fields, they were in
the mood. And again at bedtime, they were in the mood.

The problem was noon time; it took Homer a half hour to
travel home and another half hour to return to the fields and
he just wasnt getting enough work done. Finally Homer asked
the town doctor what to do.

Homer, said the doctor, just take your rifle out to the
field with you and when youre in the mood, fire off a shot into
the air. That will be Darlenes signal to come out to you. Then
you wont lose any field time.

They tried Doctors advice and it worked well for a while.
But then Homer came back to the doctors office.
Whats wrong? asked the Doctor. Didnt my idea
work?

Oh, it worked real good, said Homer. Whenever I was
in the mood, I fired off a shot like you said and Darlene would
come a-runnin. Wed find a secluded place, make love, and
then shed go back home again.

Good, Homer. So whats the problem? asked the Doctor.

I aint seen Darlene since huntin season started.
