Requirements and Limitations of the 657-13 & 657-21 (Frontier/Avenger)
Snowplow

Requires 622-105 or 622-110 Winch Kit

Can be used with 615 or 815 Standard Tracks and 625 or 825 Super Tracks

Instructions:
1.

Verify that all components have been included as indicated in the list of parts on page 1 of these instructions.

657-17 Mounting Bracket Installation (see Drawing)

2.

Place blocks under the front of the Argo.

3.

Remove the front tire assembly from each side of the vehicle using a 3/4" socket.

4.

Remove the front 3 bolts and flatwashers and REUSE when installing the 657-17 mounting brackets.

IMPORTANT: If the vehicle was equipped with tie downs at the front extension, do NOT reinstall
with the snow plow bracket. Mounting bolts will not be long enough to secure both.
Magnum, Conquest, Response, Bigfoot, Van2 (657-13 Kit)

When installing the 657-53 mounting brackets on older models, longer bolts are required. Secure with the
supplied 103-74 HHCS, 7/16 - 20 x 3-1/4"mounting bolts.
5.

Tighten securely using a 5/8" socket, and torque to 30 ft.lbs.

Final Assembly
Follow detail drawings supplied to complete assembly. Please note revision as to how the winch hook is attached at

blade utilizing the 113-15 Link, Quick - 3/8" Detail F.

127-82 Extension Spring Installation (See Drawing)

Thread a 3/8" nut (117-15) all the way onto two of the 3/8" eyebolts (112-80). Hook the spring through the eyebolt.
Hook the other end of the spring through the bracket at the top of the blade assembly. Place a 3/8" flat washer (10826) onto the eyebolt and insert it through the hole in the spring mounting angle on the lower boom assembly. Place
another 3/8" flat washer on the eyebolt and loosely attach a 3/8" lock nut (117-29) to hold the eyebolt in place. Set
the spring tension by tightening the locknut on the end of the eyebolt with a 9/16" open end wrench. Tighten this
nut until the eyebolt protrudes through the spring mounting angle by 1". Once the tension is set, tighten the top nut
on the eyebolt against the top side of the spring mounting angle.
NOTE: The 1" protrusion of the eyebolt is the recommended preload for the extension springs. However,
you can adjust it to each application, keeping in mind that the more you tighten the springs, the
higher the risk of damaging the plow.

OPERATING GUIDELINES
1.

Do NOT operate the Argo on open or frozen bodies of water with the snowplow attached.

2.

For quick removal of the snowplow unit, disconnect the rear hitch points of the upper boom from the mounting
brackets, unhook and rewind the winch cable.

3.

The knives are specially designed to be reversible and interchangeable with each other once the leading edge
has worn.
NOTE: If the operator plans to use the Argo for extended periods without the snowplow, the operator
MUST remove the mounting brackets from the vehicle. Failure to do so could lead to damage to
the mounting brackets.
NOTE: Frequent usage of the plow will result in battery drain. The installation of an alternator kit is strongly
suggested.
