Action movies are one of the most popular genres in North America generating
the most box office revenue in the years between 1995 and 2013. This film genre began
with the silent serial films around the time of Edwin S. Porter's classic action-western
The Great Trian Robbery in 1903. And it has remained strong throughout movie history.
Action films then expanded in the 80s and 90s with the growth of special effects
techniques and in response to jaded audiences who demanded faster plots, greater
violence, and stimulation for the audience. This type of genre includes impact, high
energy, lots of stunts and activity, chase scenes, races, rescues, battles, destructive
disasters like floods, explosions, natural disasters, fires, etc., fights, escapes, non-stop
motion, and adventurous heroes. Most action films
usually have another genre mixed in with it to give you a
break from all the intense explosions and stunts. For

When I thought of action movie I thought of one of my favorite action movies,
Batman. There are a bunch of Batman movies, shows and even comics but the movies are
the biggest moneymakers and are perfect examples of action. The Dark Knight earned
$534.9 million in North America and $469.7 million in other territories for a worldwide
total of $1 billion. Worldwide, it is the eighteenth highest grossing film. As you can see
from the movie picture it is going to be a badass movie with explosions and batman
killing villains like he always does.

movies by setting the mood with suspenseful slow rhythms, loud and fast beats for action
or slow and romantic for the sex scenes. Whether or not its a sex scene or an explosion
the director never wants a dull moment in the film. Even though secretly we all know
inside that the good guys always win the director is always pushing the impossible and
making the odds of success impossible.
Scrolling through the critics opinions and all is see is No character is safe and
anything can happen or It moves at a fast pace and the Nolans have plenty of plot to
play with. The director obviously fulfilled his role in keeping his audience intrigued
even if the movie is two and a half hours long.
The total opposite genre of action is comedy. Comedy is usually a slow paced

the film. It can also be a sub genre of action like the film Dumb and Dumber it has slow
scenes and the characters main goal is to make you laugh but also has action scenes
where the two do reckless stunts. This movie is not classified as an action genre but
contain action sub-plots. These sub genres of action make the action scenes less intense
