4 rows = 11 inches [29 cm] in post pattern (alternate 1 row of Front
Post Trebles and 1 row of Back Post Trebles).Before measuring, stretch gauge swatch from top
to bottom and side to side; measure swatch on a smooth flat surface and do not include the
first 2 rows in your measurements. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
BPhdc (back post hdc) Yo, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around post of st of
previous row, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 3 loops on hook. Skip st in front of the BPhdc.
Counts as hdc on next row.
BPtr (back post tr) Yo twice, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around post of st of
previous row, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times. Skip st in front of the
BPtr. Counts as tr on next row.
FPhdc (front post hdc) Yo, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of st of
previous row, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 3 loops on hook. Skip st behind the FPhdc. Counts
as a hdc on next row.
FPtr (front post tr) Yo twice, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of st of
previous row, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times. Skip st behind the FPtr.
Counts as a tr on next row.
BACK
Ch 33 (37). Row 1 (RS) Tr in 7th ch from hook (counts as 1 square), *ch 1, skip next ch, tr in next ch; repeat from *
across; turn 14 (16) squares.
Row 2 Ch 5, *BPtr in next tr, ch 1; repeat from * across, tr in 4th ch of t-ch; turn.
Row 3 Ch 5, *FPtr in next tr, ch 1; repeat from * across, tr in 4th ch of t-ch; turn.

Before sewing together, tug on the vertical ridges formed by the post stitches, from top to bottom of piece, then
stretch gently from side to side, so that the spaces between the trebles hang uniformly. If sewing together with yarn,
gently remove pompoms from yarn used for sewing. Sew shoulder seams, leaving center 9 hdc of Back for neck. Sew
in Sleeves. Sew Sleeve and side seams.
Shawl Collar and Edging
Row 1 With wrong side facing, join yarn to neck edge of right shoulder seam, hdc in 9 hdc of Back; turn. Row 2 Ch 2,
hdc into each hdc of previous row, hdc in next 2 (3) sts of neckline; turn. Rows 3-9 Repeat Row 2, adding 2 (3) more
sts of neckline from each front into collar every row.
Edging At end of Row 9, do not turn; continue down front edge, working 3 dc in the side of tr rows of front, then 5 dc
into side of each row down to corner square, 6 dc in corner square; continue along bottom edge, working 2 dc in each
ch-space to next corner square; work corner square and other front edge as for first one; in side of square holding
edge of collar work 3 dc in ch-space, dc in each hdc of collar around to first dc at other end of collar; join with slip st in
top of first dc. Fasten off.
Sleeve Edging Join yarn to end of Sleeve, 2 dc in each ch-space; join with slip st in top of first dc. Fasten off. Repeat
for other Sleeve edge.
