professional career. However there are a lot of evident that prove a persons career
success is not solely dependent to their academic educations.
We are practically raised and conditioned to believe that one needs higher
education in order to succeed in life and mostly the main reason why people go to
university is not because they want to but because they have to. A freshman sees
his seniors pressurized by their guidance counselor and parents to go to university
because it is the right thing to do. If our institutes provide us the quality
education with some healthy activities only then situations like these can be
overcome.
University education is also very important part of life especially professional life.
It helps you to build your basics for the upcoming professional career. The
activities an institute or a university should invest in order to promote community
or students so that students can spend their quality time on campus outside of their
classes.
Besides, teaching works in the university time, one other activity which is known
as co-curricular activities. These activities are important in the sense that they
keep the balance of the development of the child. These activities also keep the
students busy which help them in maintaining the discipline in their institute.
Game, sports, cultural performance, house-system, debates, dramas, scouting,
N.C.C., etc. are some of the co- curricular activities in which a university student
should take part in.
University curriculum should include several important activities which are for
group, individual or outside the institute. Some of the activities may be internal,
while others may be external. Internal activities should be performed within the
university premises, while external activities can be performed outside of the
institute, where students represent the institute. It earns the name and fame for the
whole school. Games, sports, debates, essay competition etc. all can be put as
physical and mental activities.
Co-curricular activities are very important in the university life. Only teaching
work or bookish knowledge is not sufficient for the all-round development of the
child. These activities will keep the students busy and helps the administration to
maintain the discipline in their institute. It further will have psychological effects
on a student life. As such, these activities will create an atmosphere of unity,
working together and develop the energies of the child.
Literary activities can create an interest in the learning of different languages i.e.
English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu etc. which are mostly taught in the university, and
are the part of curriculum. These literary activities could include essay writing,
debates, birth day of literary figures, discussion on their books and works of the
author. Aim of such activities must be providing a wide knowledge of the subject.
These also help to create an interest among the students to study literary in their
studies.
Cultural activities are also co-curricular and provide an opportunity to the
students to know their culture and also to enjoy the school work. These activities
are related with the society and the community at large. Some people think that
these are extra activities, but it is no so. These activities should be a part of the vast
curriculum of the university and studies. They develop the personality of the
students and also provide the knowledge of the past, the hidden qualities of the
students.
The co-curricular activities are very important for the development of the
university students for their professional life. As such these activities should be
arranged very carefully. Their planning needs a serious thinking. The functions of
these activities should be arranged in a well-planned manner.
These activities include drama, one-act play, debate, dance shows, and historical
events. The function needs a rehearsal, practice and should be arranged after the
examination or well in advance of the exams.
