Burmese Army (Tatmadaw) Military Escalation Timeline

Nov. 3rd, 2014

8:00am, Lt. Gen. Myit Soe, chief army negotiator and BSO-1 commander, along with 4
colonels visited Putao and ordered troops stationed near KIA 1st brigade (Northern Kachin
State) to prepare for major offensive.

Nov. 3rd, 2014

A convoy of 9 trucks transporting troops from LID 66 (Bago Division) arrived Moe Gaung
based LIB 74, Central Kachin State.

Nov. 5th, 2014

Lt. Gen. Myint Soe left Mytkyina, Kachin State capital, at 09:30am to tour frontlines via
helicopter. Arrived Sinbu, base of LIB 141, at 12:25pm and had meeting for 45 minutes. Left
for Daw Hpum Yang town 1:00pm and also visited Hpun Pyen Bum post (Eastern Kachin
State), a peak adjacent to KIO headquarters, to order troops for readiness. In Daw Hpum
Yang, Lt. Gen. Myint Soe advice font line commander to plan for major military campaign
before the end of 2014. He left for Bhamo (2nd largest town) at 4:10pm.

Nov. 6th, 2014

Lt. Gen. Myint Soe left Bhamo at 11:00am to visit LID 77s Sin Lum post (South Eastern
Kachin State) then stopped over at Mayan towns artillery battalion 372 then headed back
to Myitkyina.

Nov. 10th, 2014

Irrawaddy Division based LIB 51s company led by Maj. Aung Kyaw Lwin fired 60mm motar
rounds on KIAs Mai Nawng Post (stationed by KIA 2nd brigades 26th battalion), in Hpakant
jade mining region, Western Kachin State. Fierce battle continued and tension remained
high at the region.

In Naypyidaw Parliament, Gen. Kyaw Nyunt, Deputy Minister of Defense, requested


additional funding for tactical operation budget 100Million Kyat ($958,000) to build 5
concrete bunkers in Eastern Kachin State. Proposal rejected.

Nov. 14th, 2014

Tatmadaw troops positioned in Ka Maing Buddhist Monastery ordered KIA to abandon Loi
Me Post and clear roadway to Hka Shin Maw, jade mining region, Central Kachin State.

Nov. 16th, 2014

12:30pm, Burmese Army LID 88s LIR 317 attacked KIA 27th battalion (3rd brigade) stationed
near Nam Sa village, South Eastern Kachin State. 3 killed and injuries reported.

Nov. 16th, 2014

4:00am, Burmese army battalion stationed at Ying Maw fired 6 rounds of artillery fire
toward Na Hkai Place, Northern Shan State. No injuries reported.

Nov. 17th, 2014

1:15pm, LIR 317 attacked KIA 27th and 12th battalion. Then, attack resumed at 4:00pm
which lasted 2 hours near Nlung Wa Lawng Kawng Place, Mansi Township, South Eastern
Kachin State. 2 injured from KIA

Nov. 17th, 2014

3:30pm, LIB 51s company led by Maj. Aung Kyaw Lwin encircled and shelled 60mm KIAs
Nam Hkyi post, northeast of jade mining area, Central Kachin State.

Nov. 17th, 2014

A battalion from Lower Burmas Mon state based LID 44 arrived Bhamo, South Eastern
Kachin State.

Nov. 18th, 2014

3:30pm to 5:00pm, Kawng Hkra Border Guard Force (Burmese armys militia force) along
with Tatmadaw attacked Ta-Ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) at Nam Rim village,
Northern Shan State. No casualties confirmed

Nov. 18th, 2014

4:45pm, Kawng Hkra BGF group attacked TNLA troops at Nam Gan Hka bridge, Northern
Shan State. No casualties confirmed

Nov. 19th, 2014

3:30am and 5:00am, Burmese Army LIR6 of LID 66 encircled Mai Nawng Post and shelled
KIA position, between Hopin and Indawgyi lake, Central Kachin State. Fierce battles still
continues. 1 killed and 4 missing from KIA.

Nov. 19th, 2014

9:40am, Burmese Army LIR 384 attacked KIA troops near Nhkram Post of KIAs 253rd battalion,
near Laiza Headquarters, Eastern Kachin State. No injuries reported.

Nov. 19th, 2014

11:40am, Burmese army attacked KIA mobile battalion for over 20 minutes, location
unspecified.

Nov. 19th, 2014

12:15pm, LIR 390 stationed at Gan Dau Yang test fire one round of 105mm mortar, near
Laiza, KIO Headquarters, Eastern Kachin State.

Nov. 19th, 2014

12:30pm, LIR 389 stationed at Hkya Ya Peaks Bung Shi post, fired KIAs Lang Ta Post with one
round of mortar near Laiza, KIO Headquaters, Eastern Kachin State.

12:30pm, LIR 386 stationed at Dum Bang Bum fired a round of 120mm at KIAs Hka La Post, near
Laiza, KIO Headquarters, Eastern Kachin State.

12:30pm, LIR 389 stationed at Hkya Ya Peaks Bung Shi post, fired another round of 120mm
at KIA Officer Training Schools parade ground, near Laiza, KIO Headquarters, Eastern Kachin
State. Killed 22 and severely injured 17 cadets. 4 instructors injured.
