Spark arrestor

type C
Spark arrestors of type C are especially designed for applications in exhaust systems with high demands
regarding explosion risk. The spark arrestors are to be mounted in the flues where they remove sparks
or other particles from the gas stream.
Its operation is based on the centrifugal principle, a number of fixed blades make the gas stream rotate,
swinging the particles against the outer wall where they are collected in the so-called spark collector.
The spark arrestors are tested according to PTB directives and are certified by DNV, GL and others.
Virtually all types of spark arrestors are available from stock.
Mounting
The spark arrestors may be mounted in any position, considering of course the indicated direction of
flow. Operation is optimal when the spark collector is placed underneath the horizontal axis. Optionally,
up to NB100 spark arrestors are available with flanges, weld ends or slip on with clamping brackets.
Quality and safety
Our manufacturing process from design to delivery is in conformity with the ISO 9001:2000 standard,
for which we have been certified. Spark arrestors are built-in components, therefore no CE marking
applies. However in the description of your final product you will have to indicate any potential dangers,
for example risk of burns. Therefore we have put a label on your silencer in advance.
Note!
For proper operation, regular cleaning is necessary.

Silentcap
In our moist climate the Silentcap provides optimum protection to your engine. It protects your engine
against rain, hail or snow. Moreover, our rain caps are extremely silent.
The Silentcap can be very easily and quickly mounted to minimal costs, it provides maximum protection
while hardly any or no maintenance is required. Because of their great demand, virtually all types are
available from stock.

Mounting
It is of importance that the lid can be opened fully without being obstructed. An opening that is too large
causing insufficient gas speed will adversely affect its operation.
Quality and safety
Our manufacturing process from design to delivery is in conformity with the ISO 9001:2000 standard,
for which we have been certified. Silentcaps are built-in components, therefore no CE marking applies.
However you will have to indicate any potential danger, for example the risk of burns.

Compensator
Compensators are designed to absorb movements, for example caused by extension. Also compensators
are important for reduction of vibration transfer. Vibration reduction is of major importance for optimal
functioning of exhaust silencer systems. Discom has a complete program of Stainless steel
compensators for exhaust systems. The program comprises two types, fitted with weld ends or rotating
flanges, available are sizes from NB 40/80 to NB 500. On request also compensators fitted with welded
flanges are available.
Weld end and rotating type flanges are available from stock. Their construction with two layers
guarantees a high level of reliability, making them less sensitive to damages. Discom compensators are
characterized by their flexibility at low loads and a fully uninterrupted passage, meaning hardly any loss
of pressure.
Mounting
The pipe ends must be in line, these compensators are not designed for misalignment correction. Torsion
free mounting is also of importance.
Note!
Lateral loads will limit axial movements (see graph).
Quality and safety
Our manufacturing process from design to delivery is in conformity with the ISO 9001:2000 standard,
for which we have been certified. Our compensators are built-in components, therefore no CE marking
applies. However in the description of your final product you will have to indicate any potential dangers,
for example risk of burns.

Exhaust hoses
In situations where large movements are necessary the application of an exhaust hose may be a
solution.
In many instances this is the case for 1, 2 or 3 cylinder engines where movements of the engine
in relation to the exhaust system may be rather large, especially during starting or stopping.
Also when mounting in line of an exhaust system in relation to the manifold would be a problem,
an exhaust hose might be the answer.
The Discom program includes a series of exhaust hoses which are extremely reliable and have a
long life.
Mounting
When mounting exhaust hoses, the maximum bending radius must be considered.

Deck penetration
When exhaust pipes penetrate through decks, direct contact must be avoided to prevent transfer of heat
and vibrations (noise) to the construction. This can be safely done by applying deck penetration of type
DDV.
For penetration through outdoor decks, an optional rain cap is available.
In somewhat adapted form these penetrations can be applied to stationary situations, like buildings,
as well.
Our deck penetration permit free extension of the pipes and limit noise transfer to minimum values.
Also temperature transfer to the construction is minimized.

Bulkhead penetration
Discom provides a series of watertight bulkhead penetrations. They are delivered as complete sets, with
no need for drilling or burning through plates. All you need to do is to burn a hole in the bulkhead,
lead the pipe through and fix by welding.
When leading exhaust pipes through bulkheads, direct contact must be avoided, to prevent transfer of
heat and vibrations (noise) to the construction. This can be safely done by applying bulkhead
penetrations of type SDV, usually available from stock in sizes from NB 050 to NB 500.
In somewhat adapted form these lead-troughs can be applied to stationary situations, like buildings,
as well.
Our deck and bulkhead penetrations permit free extension of pipes and limit noise transfer to minimum
values. By applying lagging temperature transfer to the construction is minimized as well

The material of these mounting brackets is in accordance with the silencer to be mounted.
They consists per set of 4 pieces of semi cap brackets, bolts and nuts.
The cap brackets make it possible to suspend the silencers free from vibrations, using fixed suspension
points (H series) and pivot points (P series).

Mounting
The mounting brackets are easy to mount due to the clamping construction, if needed auxiliary
constructions may be welded to the brackets.
