The Christmas Season ends with the Feast of the Baptism
of the Lord.
Today we celebrate the feast of the
Holy Family. This feast is part of the
Christmas season, and we should
place today's Gospel in the context
of what Luke's Gospel tells us about
the birth of Jesus. Luke has been answering the question
“Who is Jesus?” through his stories of the births of John
the Baptist and Jesus. Today's Gospel reading continues
this theme. It has no parallel in the other Gospels and is
the conclusion of Luke's Infancy Narrative.

Message for the Christmas Season
Dear Parishioners,
During this holy season of Christmas I would like to thank
you for your dedication, co-operation, service and
participation in the sacramental and social life of Our Lady
of Sorrows Parish. I would like to share with the
community, the message sent to the parish by Bishop
Boissonneau:
While this time stirs many emotions and sentiments, let us
remember that the Child Jesus is for all - a sign of hope.
The birth of Jesus is a sign of hope for the whole human
family; a sign of peace for those suffering from conflicts of
every kind; a sign of freedom for the poor and oppressed;
a sign of mercy for those caught up in the vicious circle of
sin; a sign of love and consolation for those who feel lonely
and abandoned.
Let us pray that our parish will continue to proclaim this
hope and that our parishioners will continue to work to
make it real in the lives of families, the elderly, the poor, the
newly arrived and the ill.
May the Lord who came to be with us, also bless us and our
families with gifts to share with those around us.

rehearsal and the choir anthem at our Sunday morning 9:30

the amount of your donation onto your envelope. This
small step saves a great deal of time of the volunteer
teams who process our weekly collections. If you wish to
begin using donation envelopes, please advise the office.
Please note: donations must be dated & received by
4 pm (end of business day) on Dec. 31st, in order to
be included in your 2009 donations receipt.
Parish Registration: If you attend OLS parish regularly,
please ensure that you are registered with the parish
office. (Young adults who have completed their education
should be registered as individuals.) Please also inform
your previous parish that you have moved so they can
remove you from their active records.
