How to Meditate

How much homework do you have tonight? Oh, a research paper,


resource file, random test? Sounds like you need some RELIEF. Big time. Time…? Do
you have time? Do you have enough time to concentrate sit down and sort
everything out? Make it all easier? Of course you do. Just meditate.

Meditation is all about focusing on your state of being. It involves a deeper


study of eastern philosophy concerned with karma and mindful living. Furthermore,
meditation is a pillar of many eastern religions and is comparative to praying in
contemporary society. Through such actions, you will soo be at harmony with your
life achieved by wholeness and serenity. This type of dwelling in awareness
enhances health and well-being as well as adding meaning to your life. Just a simple
ten to fifteen minute meditation can help you overcome stress, especially in sucha
fast paced life.

Lao Tzu says, “When the mind is still, the whole universe surrenders.” The purpose
of meditaion is to acknowledge your surroundings. It can occur anywhere, all you
really need is a space or area to do it in. Another important element is your
breathing and posture. You should sit “criss-cross applesauce” or Indian style.

Follow the following steps and you will be a master meditate in no time:

1. Breathing.
a. Concentrate on your breathing. Make sure it is rhythmic and slow. You
should feel your whole body rise and fall as you breathe in an out.
Exhale ll the air out of your lungs. Breathe in deeply. Say OM and then
breathe out fully. Repeat for 1-3 minutes.
2. Detach yourself from the world.
a. Release all delusion and denial. You are a rock in the midst of the
ocean. You feel no pain. Bring your soul out and imagine yourself as
tumbleweed rolling along the halls of Atlantic. Imagine that you are not
in your physical body.
3. Laughter is relaxation.
a. If all this is getting to you, you can let it all out and laugh. Through this,
you are releasing tension. However, what is paramount is the focus of
the inner balance.
4. Sit upright and focus on the energy of your body.
a. Move your attention to the crown of your head and move this “ball of
energy” down your spine.
b. From your center of being, imagine this light extending into the ground
from your feet.
c. Allow the light to travel from your crown to you feet; connecting the
earth and the ground.
5. Thou art that.
a. No one is apart from you. “TAT VAM ASEE.” That art thou. Thou are not
the physical body that thou hath worn during this period of earth
incarnation. Thou art that, Thou art that; Thou art that, the universal
self. Oneness with the world with the universe.
6. Rub your hands together and open them on your eyes.
a. You are now officially relaxed and ready to apply your meditation skills
elsewhere.
