Purpose and Aim
The unit aims to provide the generic skills and knowledge required by a manager in the
information technology sector. Such managers have additional pressures of having to deal
continuously with change and participate effectively with management at all levels, including
senior management, in the development of strategy.
In addition to techniques for staffing and budgetary control, this assignment also deals with the
technologies used in maintaining the organization.

Scenario
Select one organization of your choice from any of the following. Suppose you are
selected as the project manager. You are responsible for the management of the
organization. You are asked to select new staff members for the organization, provide job
descriptions, motivate the staff members, produce a full financial plan for the
organization, and apply team management skills and to participate in all this. You role is
also to develop a full supportive strategic plan for the selected organization which is
based on the previous work and includes the improvement for future. Also the impact of
IT on strategic management will be the part of the plan. This process is important for the
betterment of the organization. Apply managerial skills to complete the process. The
senior management wants you to investigate the whole process and pick out all the
shortcomings in previous process.
The senior management had many problems to complete all the process these problems
include;

These are the points that cause the organization mismanagement. You are supposed to
perform the following tasks to overcome all the deficiencies mentioned.
M3: present a well structured and properly documented report on the tasks discussed
below.
D2: Organize and manage your assignment activities and provide a work plan for your
assignment, closely follow the submission dates
Outcome 1:
1.1 Evaluate an organizations staff recruitment policy.
1.2 Explain theories concerning staff motivation and the management of change.
1.3 Evaluate staff administration documentation.
Guidance Notes for Outcome 1
Visit the selected software firm
Select at least 4 employees from your selected organization and collect
information about the recruitment process through which they are selected.
Produce a well structured questionnaire that must contain questions related to
the organization needs and the recruitment process. Conduct interviews from
the team members you are going to select for the organization.
Provide proper evidence of the references used for collecting data regarding
the recruitment process of the selected organization (M2)
Clearly define the induction process that covers all aspects from all sides.
Provide critical evaluation of the recruitment process of your selected
organization and give suggestions. (D1)
Also clearly define the job descriptions for all the selected employees.
Assess the current motivational techniques that include appraisals, monitoring
performance, team participation, scheduling of the work, and give realistic
suggestions in this regard.
Use any HRM book for help and guideness and related material given to you
in lectures
This task should be completed by 23rd Dec 2013 (Monday). This is pre submission date
for the feedback related to task-1.

Guidelines for outcome 2:

Study the budgetary plan of the organization and recommend your own financial
plan for the organization. Use MS-Excel, diary system or any other software tools
that could help you in producing the financial plan.
The financial plan should be based on realistic values and future prospects of the
business (M1)
Use any HRM book for help and guideness and related material given to you in
lectures

This task should be completed by 30th Dec 2013 (Monday). This is pre submission date
for the feedback related to task-2.

firm i.e. if the firm currently using sql server, its alternative may the oracle.
Describe their importance and ease of use i.e. if oracle is used in place of sql
server, what improvements it can make.
Analyze the impact of new technologies if implemented i.e. if oracle is used, what
impact it can make either good or bad. Give suggestion to the company for
applying new technologies for the betterment of the business. (D3)
