WHATEVER YOU HAVE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH
Matthew 14 :18-19
Bible is a sacred book which is filled with life. It is
nothing but a tree full of fruits. Any fruit you eat, you
get life from it .Through out the 66 books of Bible, you
can eat or drink from any where and you will have only
life and life in abundance. From Genesis to Revelation,
we can see a encouraging and important word, which
God has spoken several times “Do not be afraid”.
This is one of the most important words for the human
being. God had to tell this because man is not aware of
the power of what they have in their hand. Brothers and
sisters, when you start believing in Jesus whatever you
have is more than enough for God to make it flourished
and fruitful.
For whenever Abraham thought that he is 100
years old and his wife Sarah's womb is dead, God
would have said to him “that's enough for me”. As in
Romans 4:18-19 it says that when he faced the fact
that his body was as good as dead, I believe that
Abraham would have said to himself that the Lord is
able to provide or Jehovah Jireh as he told to his son
Isaac at the mount of Moriah.
Moses was totally confused and with full of
pressure in front of the red sea. Out of fear he cries
out to God but God said to him what is in your hand is
enough. In Exodus 14:16 God says, “Raise your staff ”
and the water was divided so that the Israelites could
go through the sea on the dry ground.
In the book of Joshua, God told Joshua tell the people of God in worries .Always we ought to know one
that no human plans are required to collapse
the Jericho wall and I know that you don't have any
thing in your hand. Now you just start praising God
that's enough. With a long trumpet sound and a loud
shout of the people of God, the wall was collapsed and
every man went straight in, Joshua 6:5.
David a man of God, when he stood before the enemy,
goliath, he didn't ask for the coat of armor or bronze
helmet. He even refused to take what Saul gave for
protection. He just took his staff and chose five stones too late, but my clock says, don't worry, and be cool.
and put them in his shepherd's bag and his sling to
defeat the enemy. And that was enough. In 1 Samuel
17:39-40 David says I cannot go with what you give
but what I have, the staff and stones are enough to
overcome the critical situation.
Like wise, if we see the heroes of the Bible, we see
that all of them walked with what they had and that
was enough. They didn't have fear so they lived long.
Jesus also taught the same- what you have
with you is enough. When Jesus came to a
solitary place with his disciples, the crowds followed
him on foot from the towns. He had compassion on
them and healed the sick. He asked his disciples to
give them food. Andrew collected some food from a
child and told to Jesus “We have only five loaves of
bread and two fish- unless we go and buy food for
this entire crowd.” About five thousand men were
there. MATHEW 14:13-21
WHAT MADE THEM FEEL THAT “WHAT
THEY HAVE IS NOT ENOUGH?”
1.Human plans: In verse 15 it says that “As evening
approached, the disciples came to him and said”, so
we see that the disciples had already planned. The
disciples must have discussed among themselves that
it is getting late and dark so we have to plan for that
and send the people away before its too late. We are
also like the disciples. We always plan to escape from
the dark period of our life. We expect and calculate
the future needs and we make plans and we will be
running behind many things to find some way to
fulfill the needs. At last the plans which we had made
will make us to say that what we have is not enough
2.Situations or Circumstances: In verse 15 we
see the disciples say that “This is a remote place”.
When the disciples saw that it is a remote place and
they are not going to get anything from there, they
came to a conclusion that what they had will not be
enough. In the same way, many a times, when we see
the circumstances in our life, we feel that the need is
so great and the resources are less and we too
conclude that “what we have is not enough”.
3.Time: In the same verse 15, disciples say that
“it was getting late”. We are bothered of time so
much and this has put many believers and also men
thing that though we are getting older day by day
but the one who is in us is same yesterday, today and
for ever. Several times, the time factor makes us to
feel that our prayers are not answered. Martha told
Jesus that if you were here this would not have
happened. Jesus answered “If you believe you will see
the glory of God”. Martha was trying to tell Jesus
that it's too late. Jesus wanted to tell her that the
clock which you follow makes you to think that it's
The decayed body of Lazarus with bad odor is enough
for me to bring him back to life. When the disciples
took the decision on these factors, they asked Jesus to
send the crowd away, so that they can go and buy
themselves some food.
Brothers and sisters, in times of trouble never say
that Jesus is far and not hearing the prayers.
Answers are at your hand. Do not be worried of your
plans, circumstances and time. All these are the
areas where the devil wants to make you think that
what is in your hand is not enough to overcome.
1 John5:5. Jesus did miracle to those who displayed
their faith in him, at last let us also display our faith
being in Christ &miracles happening. John 14:13.
