answer the following questions as complete as possible. 5Pts (5%)

THE SELECTION OF A RESEARCH APPROACH

1.

What are Research Approaches?

They are plans and the procedures for research that span the steps from broad assumptions
to detailed methods of data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

2.

What do the procedures do?

With them we are able to create sampling, consent, reciprocity, data collection methods
and instruments, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting.

3.

How does the researcher select a research approach?

The researcher chooses an approach taking into account the research problem the personal
experiences of the same researcher, and the audience for whom he or she writes.

4.

What are the three key terms that represent a perspective about research?
Research approaches, research designs, and research methods.

THE THREE APPROACHES TO RESEARCH

5.

What are the three approaches to carry out a research?

Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods.

6.

What is Qualitative research? What is Qualitative research used for?

It is an approach for exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups ascribe
to a social or human problem.

7.

What does the Qualitative research involve?

It is an approach for exploring and understanding the meaning individuals or groups ascribe
to a social or human problem.

8.

What is Quantitative research? What is Quantitative research used for?

Quantitative research is an approach for testing objective theories by examining the

relationship among variables.
9.

What are the Mix Methods? What does this approach involve?
It is an approach to inquiry involving collecting both quantitative and qualitative data,
integrating the two forms of data, and using distinct designs that may involve philosophical
assumptions and theoretical frameworks.

THRREE COMPONENTS INVOLVED IN AN APPROACH

10. What are the two components in a definition?
Philosophical assumptions and distinct methods or procedures.
11. Do philosophical ideas remain hidden in research? Do they need to be identified? Why?
Yes. Yes. They will help explain why they chose qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods
approaches for their research.
RESEARCH DESIGNS
According to the Research Design, complete the table
Quantitative

Qualitative

Mixed Methods

- Survey research

- Narrative research

- Convergent parallel mixed methods

- Experimental research

- Phenomenological research

- Explanatory sequential mixed methods

- Grounded theory

- Exploratory sequential mixed methods

- Ethnography

- Transformative mixed methods

- Case studies

- Embedded mixed methods

- Multiphase mixed methods

12. What is a narrative research?

It is a design of inquiry in which the researcher studies the lives of individuals and asks them
to provide stories about their lives.

RESEARCH METHODS
13. What do the research methods include?
They involve the forms of data collection, analysis, and interpretation that researchers
propose for their studies.

14. Where does a problem come from?

The problem comes from a void in the literature, and conflict in research results in the
literature, topics that have been neglected in the literature; a need to lift up the voice of
marginalized participants; and real-life problems found in the workplace, the home, the
community, and so forth.
